Pearson airport transportation from TorontoBlackLimousine.com is a pre-booked black car between Toronto Pearson (YYZ) and any address in the GTA. Downtown Toronto is about 27 km and 25–45 minutes away. Flights are tracked, the fixed all-in fare appears before you confirm, and you can book your Pearson car here in a couple of minutes.
Pearson airport transportation in Toronto: what a pre-booked black car gives you
Toronto Pearson is the country's busiest airport, and the choice at the curb is wide: taxis, rideshare, the UP Express train, TTC buses, rental cars and pre-arranged limousines. Our job is the last one. A pre-booked Pearson car service means one party, one professional chauffeur and a fixed fare you see in the reservation engine before you pay, with no meter running while the bags come off the belt. If you want the ride as a straightforward airport run, our Pearson airport limo service page covers vehicles and inclusions. What follows is the dispatcher's guide to Toronto airport ground transportation.
How far is Pearson from downtown Toronto, and how long does the drive take?
Pearson sits in Mississauga, north-west of the core. The Financial District is about 27 km away via the Gardiner Expressway and Highway 427, or via Highway 401 and the 427 when the lakeshore route is jammed. These are typical planning figures; the reservation engine quotes the exact fixed fare for your address, date, time and vehicle.
| Between Pearson (YYZ) and | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Downtown Toronto / Union Station | 27 km | 25–45 min |
| Yorkville and Midtown | 25 km | 25–40 min |
| North York | 20 km | 20–35 min |
| Etobicoke | 12 km | 15–25 min |
| Vaughan | 20 km | 20–35 min |
| Markham | 40 km | 35–50 min |
| Oakville | 30 km | 25–40 min |

Our trip planner gives kilometres and drive times for any address pair.
Terminal 1 or Terminal 3: which one is my flight?
Pearson runs two passenger terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, and they are not next door to each other on foot. Airlines are assigned to terminals, and the assignments do change, so we never guess: check your e-ticket or the airline app, then enter the terminal and flight number when you book. For arrivals, the flight number is what matters, because our dispatch reads the live arrival record and routes the chauffeur to the right terminal even if you typed the wrong one. For departures we drop you at the departures level of the terminal you name. If you end up at the wrong building, the Terminal Link train connects Terminal 1, Terminal 3 and the Viscount station on the airport's side, so you are not stranded. Our Pearson terminal pickup guide goes deeper into levels, doors and where people usually get confused.
Where does a pre-arranged car pick you up at Pearson?
Pearson separates taxis and airport limousines that queue at the curb from pre-arranged rides booked in advance. According to the airport's own pre-arranged services page, pre-booked taxis and limos meet passengers at a designated pickup area on the arrivals-level curb, and the passenger lets the pickup-area staff know they are waiting for a pre-arranged ride. That is exactly how our fare works: curbside pickup at the terminal's pre-arranged pickup area is included. When you land, turn your phone on; the chauffeur texts the vehicle colour, plate and the spot, then brings the car up as you walk out. We do not print door numbers here because signage and zones change; the airport's transportation and parking page carries the current layout, and your chauffeur's text carries the exact spot on the day.

How long does customs take on an international arrival at Pearson?
It varies more than any other part of the journey. A domestic flight usually puts you at the curb 15–25 minutes after the doors open, depending on bags. US preclearance only applies when you fly from Pearson to the USA, so arrivals from American cities still go through Canadian border processing here, the same as any other international flight. International arrivals clear CBSA primary inspection, collect bags and may hit secondary checks; plan on 30–75 minutes from landing in normal periods and longer when several widebodies arrive together in the late afternoon. Kiosks and eGates speed things up for many travellers, and NEXUS members have their own lane. The CBSA site explains what to declare. Our read on NEXUS is in how NEXUS speeds up a Pearson pickup.
How long will the chauffeur wait if the flight is late or bags are slow?
Flight tracking means a delay costs you nothing: the pickup time follows the actual landing. Once the aircraft is on the ground, included waiting starts: 30 minutes on Canadian domestic and US flights, 60 minutes on all other international arrivals, measured from actual landing. After that, waiting is added in 15-minute blocks, and the chauffeur will message you before any extra time begins. If you know you have a connection problem, a lost bag claim or a long customs line, send a message and the car simply stays. For departures, the included wait at your home or hotel is 15 minutes, which is plenty if bags are by the door.
Is meet & greet inside arrivals worth adding at Pearson?
For most travellers who fly often, curbside pickup is faster: you walk out, the car is there, you are on the 427 within minutes. Meet & greet is an optional add-on, available at booking, where the chauffeur waits inside the arrivals hall with a name board and walks you to the car. It is worth it for first-time visitors to Canada, older parents flying alone, unaccompanied executives you are hosting, travellers with limited English, families juggling car seats and several suitcases, and VIP guests where the impression matters. We describe how the handover works, including what happens when a flight lands early, in Pearson meet & greet explained.
Pearson taxi, UP Express, TTC or black car: which one fits your trip?
Honest comparison is useful, because not every trip needs a chauffeur.
| Option | Best for | Door to door? | Luggage and groups | Booked ahead? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UP Express train | Solo traveller, carry-on, going to Union Station | No, Union to Terminal 1 only | Fine for one or two bags | Not needed |
| TTC airport bus | Tight budgets, no rush | No | Awkward with big bags | Not needed |
| Pearson airport taxi or limo from the queue | Spontaneous rides | Yes | Standard car sizes | No |
| Rideshare | Short, flexible trips | Yes | Depends on the car sent | Only on demand |
| Pre-booked black car | Families, groups, Terminal 3, late nights, meetings | Yes | Vehicle chosen for the party | Yes, with a fixed fare |
A Pearson airport taxi from the queue is fine for a single ride; a YYZ taxi does not track your flight or wait for you, and you pick the car you are given. The Pearson transit page lists buses and the train.
When is the UP Express the better choice?
We would rather lose a booking than send you the wrong way. The UP Express runs between Union Station and Pearson Terminal 1 in about 28 minutes, with stops at Bloor, Mount Dennis and Weston. If you are one person with a carry-on, flying from Terminal 1, and you are staying or working within walking distance of Union, the train is often the simplest answer. A car wins when you are going door to door anywhere else in the GTA, when you fly from Terminal 3, when there are two or more of you with real luggage, when children or car seats are involved, when your flight lands late at night, or when you want to take calls in private on the way to a meeting. Our full comparison lives at Pearson: UP Express vs a limo, and the station itself at UP Express to Pearson.
What does a Toronto Pearson airport transfer include, and what changes the fare?
We do not publish price lists on this site. The reservation engine shows the fixed, all-in fare before you confirm: chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, 407 ETR tolls if the route uses it, airport fees and gratuity, with HST shown separately. There is no surge and no meter. What changes the fare is simple to understand: the vehicle class, the distance and time of the trip, extra stops, waiting beyond the included time, the date and season, and the meet & greet or child-seat add-ons if you choose them. A Toronto Pearson airport transfer to Oakville costs less than one to Barrie because the second trip is three times longer, and an executive SUV costs more than a business sedan because it carries six. Our how our fares work page explains the structure, and the engine does the arithmetic for your exact address.
Which vehicle should you book for Pearson?
Match the vehicle to people and bags, not to the number of seats alone. A business sedan takes two passengers and two large cases. A first-class sedan carries the same load with more rear-seat space for an executive. An SUV seats up to six with four large bags and is the standard choice for a family of four with checked luggage, ski bags or a stroller. For a team or wedding party, a Sprinter carries seven to twelve depending on the configuration, with room for luggage in the back. If you are unsure, book one class up; a family of four with four checked cases will not fit comfortably in a sedan. Stretch limousines for Pearson are arranged through vetted partners in the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network and are rarely the practical choice for luggage.

How early should you leave for a departure from Pearson?
The airport and your airline set check-in cut-offs; we set the drive. As a dispatcher's rule of thumb for a transfer to Toronto airport from downtown:
- Take the airline's recommended arrival time at the terminal (commonly two hours for domestic and US flights and three for long-haul, but check your airline).
- Add the drive: 25–45 minutes from the Financial District, more from Markham, Pickering or Burlington.
- Add a buffer: 15 minutes off-peak, 30–45 minutes at weekday rush hour, in snow or on a long-weekend Friday.
- Book the pickup for that time and have bags at the door; the chauffeur arrives a few minutes early.
US-bound travellers clear US preclearance at Pearson before boarding, so allow for that queue too. More detail is in how early to arrive at Pearson.
Rush hour, the 401, the 427 and the Gardiner: timing the drive
Most Pearson runs from downtown use the Gardiner Expressway west to the 427 north, then the airport exits. Weekday mornings inbound and late afternoons outbound are the slow periods, and the stretch where the Gardiner meets the 427 can add fifteen minutes on its own. When the Gardiner has lane closures, which happen for maintenance and events, we switch to the 401 and 427, or Lake Shore Boulevard for part of the way. From the north and east, the 401 is the backbone, with collector and express lanes that the chauffeur picks according to the live traffic. The tolled 407 ETR is sometimes faster from Markham, Vaughan or Oakville; if the route uses it, the toll is inside the fixed fare. We check Ontario 511 for closures before every early-morning departure.
Winter, storms and late-night arrivals at Pearson
Our cars run winter tires from November to April, and chauffeurs plan for snow days: earlier pickups for departures, more patience for de-icing delays on arrivals. When a storm cancels flights, message us with the new flight number and we move the booking. Late-night arrivals are where a pre-booked car earns its keep. After midnight the train is not an option for every flight, queues for taxis can be long when several delayed flights land together, and nobody wants to negotiate at the curb after a long-haul. Your chauffeur is already tracking the flight and waiting in the pre-arranged area. If you are landing very late and staying near the airport before an early connection, our Pearson airport hotels guide covers the hotel strip and short transfers.
Families, child seats and heavy luggage
Child seats (infant, convertible and booster) are available at booking; tell us each child's age and weight so the right seat is fitted before the car reaches the terminal. Parents often underestimate luggage: two adults and two children with checked cases, two carry-ons and a stroller is an SUV load, not a sedan load. Ski bags, golf clubs, hockey bags and musical instruments should be listed in the booking notes so dispatch assigns a vehicle with room. We have a wheelchair-accessible vehicle for anyone who must stay seated in a wheelchair or scooter, available when booked in advance; for passengers who can transfer to a seat, the chauffeur folds and stows the wheelchair or walker. Families arriving together from abroad may find our family arrivals and reunions page useful for planning several pickups at once.
Why book the hourly chauffeur from Pearson?
The lead product at TorontoBlackLimousine.com is the hourly private chauffeur, and many Pearson trips are really hourly trips in disguise. If you land at 9 a.m. for three meetings on Bay Street and a dinner in Yorkville, a one-way airport transfer followed by three rideshares is slower and less private than keeping one car and one chauffeur. With hourly chauffeur service, the car meets you at Pearson, holds your bags while you are in meetings, and takes you back to the airport or your hotel at the end. The minimum is three hours for sedans, SUVs, vans and Sprinters, with extra time in 30-minute blocks. It also suits roadshows, site visits in Vaughan or Mississauga, and relatives who want a stop at a family home before check-in. For longer programmes, see our private chauffeur service.
Connecting Pearson to other airports and stations
Some trips start at one airport and end at another. We run Pearson to Billy Bishop for travellers switching from an international arrival to a short-haul flight from the island; see Pearson to Billy Bishop airport and our Billy Bishop airport page. We connect Pearson to Hamilton airport (YHM) for charter and cargo-season flights, and to Buffalo airport (BUF) for travellers flying US domestic routes from across the border. Private jet passengers arriving at Pearson's business aviation facilities are covered on our Pearson private aviation page. If you still need flights or a hotel, our travel desk can book them alongside the car. All the airports we serve are listed on the airports hub.

Airport taxi, airport shuttle or a booked car: which is right at Pearson?
Three options meet most travellers at the arrivals curb. A licensed airport taxi or airport limo from the stand needs no booking and charges Pearson's published flat rates to Toronto destinations; the airport explains the system on its taxis and limos page. An airport shuttle, in the sense of a hotel shuttle bus or a shared van, suits a traveller staying at an airport hotel with time to spare. A pre-booked car with TorontoBlackLimousine.com is timed to your landing, waits from actual touchdown, carries child seats on request and goes anywhere, including Muskoka or Niagara, at a fixed fare you see before confirming. Taking a cab to the airport works differently: the Pearson stands serve passengers leaving the airport, so for a departure you book a car ahead or call a city taxi. Our guide to Pearson airport taxi vs limo compares them honestly, and the terminal pickup guide shows where each one waits.
