Hourly limo rates in Toronto buy one car and chauffeur for a block of time, from a 3-hour minimum for sedans, SUVs and Sprinters, so the car waits between stops. Point-to-point car service prices a single journey from A to B. Choose point to point for one trip; choose hourly for several stops, waiting or an uncertain finish. Compare both in the reservation engine.
Hourly limo rates in Toronto vs point-to-point: the short answer
Both products use the same cars, the same chauffeurs and the same dispatch desk at TorontoBlackLimousine.com. The difference is what you are paying for. A point-to-point fare buys a journey: the car arrives, drives you to one destination and leaves. An hourly booking buys time: the car and chauffeur are yours for the block, parked outside while you are inside, ready when you walk out. Neither is "better". A Pearson run from a Yorkville hotel is a point-to-point job. A day of meetings between King Street, North York and a lunch in Midtown is an hourly job. The confusion comes in the middle: a dinner and a show, an appointment with a follow-up, an airport arrival that turns into a working afternoon. This guide is about those middle cases, and how to decide quickly.
What is point-to-point car service?
Point-to-point car service is a pre-booked ride with one pickup, one drop-off and a fixed fare agreed before you travel. It is how most airport transfers, hotel runs and one-way trips to events are booked. The fare is built from the vehicle class, the kilometres between the two addresses and a realistic drive time for that hour, and it includes 15 minutes of waiting at a home, hotel or office (or 30 and 60 minutes after landing at airports, depending on the flight). Planned stops can be added at booking and priced in. What point to point does not do is wait for you for hours, and it does not guarantee the same car later: the return is a second booking, possibly with a different chauffeur. For a single journey that is exactly what you want, and it is the lower fare of the two.
What does an hourly booking in Toronto buy you?
An hourly booking holds one vehicle and one professional chauffeur for the hours you choose, starting at the pickup time you set. During the block the car goes where you direct it, within the GTA as standard, and waits wherever you stop. Your laptop bag, shopping, luggage or change of clothes stays locked inside. The chauffeur knows the plan, watches the clock for you, and moves the car to the door when you message that you are on your way out. For the passenger, that means no app, no queue at a taxi stand after an event, and no re-explaining the route at each stop. For an assistant booking an executive, it means one confirmation for the whole day. That is why the hourly chauffeur service is the product we put first.
How are hourly limo rates built?
Hourly limo rates depend on two things: the class and the number of hours. Each class has a minimum, and time after the minimum runs in 30-minute blocks:
| Class | Minimum | After the minimum |
|---|---|---|
| Business sedan / Tesla Model Y | 3 h | 30-minute blocks |
| First-class sedan (S-Class) | 3 h | 30-minute blocks |
| SUV / premier luxury SUV | 3 h | 30-minute blocks |
| Executive or first-class Sprinter | 3 h | 30-minute blocks |
| Sprinter luxury van (12) | 3 h | 30-minute blocks |
| Stretch limousine (partner) | 4 h | 30-minute blocks |
| Party bus (partner) | 4 to 5 h | 30-minute blocks |
| Coach (partner) | 5 h | 30-minute blocks |
The hourly fare includes the chauffeur, fuel, tolls if used and gratuity, with HST shown separately. Normal GTA mileage is part of it; a day that heads to Niagara or Muskoka is quoted with the distance in mind. We publish no figures; choose Hourly in the reservation engine to see yours.
How is a point-to-point fare built?
A point-to-point fare is the journey priced in advance: vehicle class, kilometres, a realistic duration for the time of day, airport fees where they apply, any planned stops, and the included waiting. Once confirmed it is fixed, so a crash on the 427 changes your arrival time but not your fare. Two details trip people up. First, a return trip is two journeys, and the gap between them matters: if it is short, the second car may simply be the first one waiting, which is hourly by another name. Second, every planned stop adds a little time and distance; one is easy, four is a different product. Our how our fares work page lists what is included in every fare, and the limo cost guide explains what moves the number.
The three-question test: stops, waiting and certainty
Before you book, answer three questions:
- How many stops? One destination means point to point. Three or more points to hourly.
- How long will you be inside each time? Under about two hours before you need the car again favours hourly; a long gap, such as a five-hour wedding reception, favours two one-way trips.
- How certain is the finish? A fixed flight time is certain. A concert encore, a hospital clinic or a client lunch that may run long is not, and hourly removes the scramble.
If two of the three answers point to hourly, price it. If none do, book point to point. When the answers are mixed, put both options into the reservation engine and compare the two fixed fares side by side; it takes a minute and settles the question with real numbers for your date.
Example 1: a day of meetings on Bay Street, in North York and in Vaughan
A visiting director lands the night before and has meetings at 9:00 on King Street West, 11:30 at a North York head office, 14:00 at a distribution site in Vaughan and dinner at 19:00 in Yorkville.
| Leg | Distance | Typical drive |
|---|---|---|
| Hotel to King Street West | 2 km | 10 min |
| King Street West to North York | 15 km | 20–35 min |
| North York to Vaughan | 20 km | 20–30 min |
| Vaughan to Yorkville | 35 km | 35–50 min |
As one-way trips this is four bookings, four pickups and three gaps of waiting for a car outside office towers and a warehouse park. Hourly, the same sedan covers the morning and afternoon in one block, the chauffeur knows each address, and the bag with the presentation never leaves the car. Our corporate car service page covers accounts and billing.

Example 2: dinner in Yorkville, then home — when two one-way rides win
A couple in Etobicoke books dinner at 19:00 in Yorkville, about 18 km and 25–35 minutes away, and expects to leave around 22:30. That is three and a half hours at the table. Hourly would keep a car parked for the whole meal, which is pleasant but rarely necessary. Two point-to-point bookings, one at 18:20 and one at 22:30, cover the evening, and the chauffeur for the return simply waits outside the restaurant at the agreed time. The calculation flips if the plan grows: drinks first in the Distillery District, dinner in Yorkville, a nightcap on King Street. Now there are three stops, short gaps and an uncertain finish, and the hourly option is easier. The point is not to pay for waiting you do not need, and to stop paying per leg once the legs multiply.
Example 3: a Pearson arrival that turns into a working afternoon
A client lands at Pearson at 10:15 from New York, has a lunch meeting at 12:30 near Union Station, an hour at a law firm on Bay Street, and a 17:30 check-in at a Yorkville hotel. A point-to-point transfer would deliver her to lunch with her suitcase, then she would need three more rides. Booked hourly, the car meets her at Pearson's pre-arranged pickup area (27 km and 25–45 minutes from the core), keeps the case in the trunk through lunch and the afternoon, and drops her at the hotel at the end. Flight tracking still applies, so a late landing simply shifts the start. The Pearson terminal pickup guide explains how the meeting point works at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.
Example 4: Niagara Falls or wine country for the day
Niagara Falls is about 130 km and 85–110 minutes from downtown Toronto; Niagara-on-the-Lake is about 125 km and 85–105 minutes. A day trip there is the clearest case for keeping the car. Two separate one-way trips would each have to account for the car travelling back empty, and you would have no transport between the falls, the Parkway, a winery lunch and the drive home. With hourly service the chauffeur stays with you, moves you between stops in comfort, and drives home when you are ready. The hours add up on a long day, so plan the itinerary with dispatch to avoid dead time. Our Niagara Falls limo tours page has suggested day plans, and the Toronto to Niagara Falls route covers the QEW drive itself.
Example 5: concerts and game nights with an uncertain finish
Events are where hourly earns its keep. A show at RBC Amphitheatre (formerly Budweiser Stage), a Leafs game at Scotiabank Arena or a Blue Jays game at Rogers Centre all end at the same moment for tens of thousands of people. Rideshare demand spikes, streets around the venue close or crawl, and a one-way pickup booked for "around 22:30" can turn into a long wait on a sidewalk. With an hourly booking the chauffeur parks within reach, follows the game or the set list, and texts you a meeting point a block away from the crowd. If overtime or an encore runs long, you extend in 30-minute blocks. For details on event drop-offs, see our concert and game-day limo page.
Example 6: medical appointments and errands for a parent
Families often book us to take a parent to a specialist at a downtown hospital, followed by a pharmacy stop and a visit to a bank. Clinic times overrun, tests get added, and nobody wants an older relative waiting alone at the curb for a car that may or may not be close. An hourly booking keeps the same chauffeur, who helps with the walker or folding wheelchair, waits nearby during the appointment and drives on when the family is ready. From North York to a downtown hospital is about 15 km and 20–35 minutes; from Markham, 35 km and 30–45 minutes. If the appointment is a single drop-off with a family member collecting afterwards, point to point is fine. We have a wheelchair-accessible vehicle for anyone who must stay seated in a wheelchair or scooter, available when booked in advance.
Weddings, proms and partner vehicles: why hourly is the norm
Celebrations are almost always booked by the hour. A wedding day moves the couple from a house to a ceremony, on to photographs at the Distillery District or the Toronto Islands ferry docks, and then to a reception in Vaughan or Markham. That is multiple stops with waiting at each one and a timeline that slips. Prom nights and milestone birthdays follow the same pattern. Stretch limousines and party buses come from vetted partner operators and carry four-hour and four-to-five-hour minimums respectively; our own sedans, SUVs and Sprinters carry three. Multi-vehicle weddings are priced in writing by a coordinator. See wedding limo service and our guide to how to book a wedding limo.
What happens if the day runs long, or ends early?
If the day runs long, tell the chauffeur and time is extended in 30-minute blocks; dispatch confirms the extension so there are no surprises later. If a later booking prevents the same chauffeur staying, dispatch arranges a seamless swap or a second car. If the day ends early, the minimum for the class still applies, so book the hours you are confident you will use and extend on the day rather than over-booking. For point-to-point trips, an earlier finish simply means calling the car earlier when you can; a later finish beyond the included waiting is charged in 15-minute blocks after the chauffeur checks in with you. Either way, nothing changes without a message first.

Where does the car wait while you are inside?
Downtown Toronto does not let cars idle outside office towers for hours, so the chauffeur waits at a legal spot nearby, often a short loop or a lot within a few minutes, and brings the car to the door when you message. At hotels with a front drive, venues with a designated pickup area and suburban offices with parking, the car can usually stay closer. On event nights, the waiting position is planned around road closures and the stream of people leaving. You do not need to manage any of this: tell the chauffeur roughly when you expect to be out and send a message when you are leaving. The car is outside when you reach the street.
Which vehicle suits an hourly day?
For one or two people, a business sedan or the electric Tesla Model Y is quiet and easy to park. For a senior executive or a client you are hosting, the first-class sedan adds rear-seat space for calls and work. A team of up to six with bags travels in an SUV; seven people working on the move fit the executive Sprinter, with lounge seating that suits a roadshow or site visits. Twelve guests for a winery day or a wedding party fit the Sprinter luxury van. Choose for the busiest leg of the day, not the lightest.
How to price both options side by side
Open the reservation engine at /book/. Enter your day as one-way legs first: each pickup, destination and time. Note the total. Then switch to Hourly, choose the same class, set the start time and the number of hours the day really needs, and compare. Most people find the answer obvious within a minute: either the legs are clearly simpler, or the hourly block clearly covers the day with less hassle. Dispatch can also suggest a plan if you send the itinerary. If the trip includes flights or a hotel, our travel desk books those too. Other planning guides are on the guides hub.
Booking, changes and cancellation
Both products are booked direct on TorontoBlackLimousine.com through our own reservation engine, with no app and no marketplace in the middle. You see the fixed fare before you confirm; you receive the chauffeur's details before pickup. Changes to times, stops or hours are handled by dispatch and confirmed in writing. Cancellation is measured from the scheduled pickup: free more than 72 hours ahead, then 10 %, 50 % and 100 % at 72, 48 and 24 hours or less, with a no-show treated as a late cancellation. If you are travelling beyond Toronto, the same account books chauffeured cars in more than 70 countries and 500 cities through the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network. Before a long day out, our chauffeurs check closures on Ontario 511, and when a route uses the 407 ETR the toll is already in the fare.
