At Pearson Terminal 1 arrivals and Terminal 3 arrivals, pre-booked cars meet passengers at a designated pre-arranged pickup area on the arrivals-level curb. Collect your bags, follow the signs, tell the pickup-area staff you are waiting for a pre-arranged ride, and your chauffeur brings the car up. TorontoBlackLimousine.com tracks the flight and includes waiting from landing; book your Pearson pickup.
Pearson Terminal 1 arrivals and Terminal 3 arrivals: what to know first
Toronto Pearson has two passenger terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Each has its own arrivals hall, its own baggage reclaim and its own curb for taxis, rideshare and pre-arranged cars. Most arrival-day confusion comes from three things: not knowing which terminal the flight uses, heading for the wrong curb (the taxi stand or the rideshare zone instead of the pre-arranged pickup area), and phones that stay in flight mode. This guide takes each in turn, from the aircraft door to the back seat, from the point of view of the dispatcher who sends your car. It covers both terminals, domestic, US and international arrivals, and what to do if something goes wrong. If you have not booked yet, the Pearson airport limo service page explains the product, and the reservation engine shows your fixed fare.
Which terminal is your flight?
Airlines are assigned to either Terminal 1 or Terminal 3, and the assignments change from time to time, so the only reliable source is your own booking: the e-ticket, the boarding pass, or the airline app on the day. Codeshare flights can be confusing, because the terminal follows the airline operating the aircraft, not the one that sold you the ticket. When you book a pickup with us, give the flight number as well as the terminal. Our dispatch reads the live arrival record, so if the terminal you typed was wrong, the chauffeur still goes to the right curb. For departures we drop you at the departures level of the terminal you name, so check it the evening before. Pearson's transportation and parking pages carry the airport's own current information, and our Pearson airline terminal finder lists which airlines used Terminal 1 and which used Terminal 3 when we last checked the airport's airline list.
What happens between landing and the curb?
The sequence after landing is the same at both terminals, with one big difference between flight types:
- The aircraft taxis to the gate; you switch your phone on as soon as the crew allows.
- Domestic flights walk straight to baggage reclaim.
- US and other international flights go through Canadian border processing first, at kiosks or eGates and then a border officer; travellers coming from US cities clear here too, because US preclearance only applies to flights leaving Pearson for the United States.
- Collect your bags; oversized items such as skis and car seats often arrive at a separate belt.
- Leave through the arrivals exit into the public arrivals hall.
- Follow the signs to the pre-arranged pickup area on the arrivals-level curb.
The CBSA site explains declarations, and members of the NEXUS programme often move through faster.
Where is the Pearson airport pickup area for pre-booked cars?
Pearson separates walk-up vehicles from booked ones. Licensed taxis and airport limousines wait at the stands for passengers without a booking. Rideshare cars use their own signed zone. Pre-arranged vehicles, which include ours, meet passengers at a designated pickup area on the arrivals-level curb. According to Pearson's own pre-arranged services page, you let the pickup-area staff know that you are waiting for a pre-arranged ride, and your driver comes forward. That is exactly what our fare includes: a curbside pickup at the terminal's pre-arranged area. When we checked Pearson's page on 4 October 2026 it placed the designated pickup area for pre-arranged taxis and limos at Door A on the arrivals level of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Signage and layouts do change, so follow the terminal signs for pre-arranged pickup and use the text your chauffeur sends with the exact spot on the day.
Pearson airport map: where to find the official terminal maps
Toronto Pearson publishes its own interactive terminal maps, with every level of Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, the gates, baggage reclaim, shops, the Terminal Link stations and the arrivals-level doors. Use the airport's map rather than a screenshot from a forum or an old blog post, because gates, doors and construction hoardings move. The two short sections below are not maps; they are the handful of landmarks a chauffeur talks a passenger through by text, all checked against the airport's own pages on 4 October 2026. Open the official map on your phone before you land and search for "pre-arranged" or "taxi" to see the curb in context.
Terminal 1 map basics: the landmarks that matter for a pickup
Terminal 1 is the larger building and the one where the UP Express station sits. For a car pickup, three landmarks matter on the Terminal 1 map:
- Arrivals level, Door A: the designated area for pre-arranged taxis and limos, which is where a booked TorontoBlackLimousine.com car meets you curbside. Pearson also lists a pre-arranged desk inside the terminal at Door A.
- Door C and Door D: the airport limo stand (Door C) and the taxi stand (Door D) for walk-up passengers, according to Pearson's taxis and limos page. If you have booked with us, walk past them.
- The Terminal Link and UP Express stations: the train between terminals and the train to Union. Useful landmarks, but not where your car is.
International and US arrivals reach the public arrivals hall only after border processing and baggage reclaim, so the walk to Door A starts from the arrivals exit, not from the gate.
Terminal 3 map basics: the landmarks that matter for a pickup
Terminal 3 is the second passenger terminal, used by many US and international carriers as well as WestJet and Porter at the time of our last check. Its map is simpler for a pickup:
- Arrivals level, Door A: the designated area for pre-arranged taxis and limos, with a pre-arranged desk inside the terminal at Door A, per Pearson's pre-arranged services page. This is where your booked car meets you.
- Door E: the taxi stand and the airport limo stand for walk-up passengers.
- The Terminal Link station: the inter-terminal train to Terminal 1, if you need the UP Express or you have landed at the wrong building.
There is no UP Express station at Terminal 3, and no need for one on a booked pickup: once your bags are on the trolley, Door A is the only landmark you need. For which airline uses which building, see the airline terminal finder; for how a walk-up taxi compares with a booked car, see Pearson airport taxi vs limo.
Step by step: a Terminal 1 arrival
- When the aircraft reaches the gate, turn your phone on and look for your chauffeur's message with the car, colour and plate.
- Clear border processing if you are arriving from abroad, then collect your bags at the Terminal 1 reclaim.
- Reply to the chauffeur: "Bags collected, heading out." If you are delayed at customs or reporting a lost bag, say so.
- Exit into the arrivals hall and follow the signs for pre-arranged pickup at Door A, not the taxi stand or the UP Express.
- At the pickup area, tell the staff you are waiting for a pre-arranged ride.
- The chauffeur brings the car forward, loads the luggage and confirms your destination.
Terminal 1 is also where the UP Express station sits, and its signs are prominent; if you have booked a car, walk past them to the curb.

Step by step: a Terminal 3 arrival
- Switch your phone on at the gate and check for the chauffeur's message.
- Clear border processing if your flight is international or from the US; domestic arrivals go straight to reclaim.
- Collect your bags at the Terminal 3 reclaim, including any oversized items from the separate belt.
- Message the chauffeur once you have everything.
- Leave through the arrivals exit and follow the Terminal 3 signs for pre-arranged pickup at Door A.
- Tell the pickup-area staff you are waiting for a pre-arranged ride; the chauffeur pulls up and loads the car.
There is no UP Express station at Terminal 3, which is one reason Terminal 3 travellers with luggage tend to book a car. If you realise you are at the wrong terminal, do not walk outside to look for the other one; read the section below on the Terminal Link train first.
How long from landing to the curb, and how long will the car wait?
Every arrival is different, but these planning windows match what our chauffeurs see, and they are why included waiting is set the way it is.
| Flight type | Typical landing to curb | Included waiting from actual landing |
|---|---|---|
| Canadian domestic | 15–30 min, mostly bags | 30 min |
| US cities into Pearson | 30–60 min, includes border processing | 30 min |
| Other international | 30–75 min, longer when several large flights arrive | 60 min |
After the included time, waiting runs in 15-minute blocks, and the chauffeur messages you before the first block begins. A delayed flight is not waiting: we track it, so the chauffeur's timing simply moves with the real landing. If you know you will be slow, such as a long customs line or a missing suitcase, a quick text keeps everyone calm and the car stays.
How do you find your chauffeur at the curb?
Before landing, save the number from your confirmation. After landing, the chauffeur's text gives the vehicle class, colour and plate, and confirms the pickup area. Three habits make the handover quick. First, switch off flight mode at the gate, not at the curb; if you are roaming, the airport's Wi-Fi works for messaging. Second, reply when you have your bags rather than when you leave the aircraft, because the bags are what take time. Third, stay at the pre-arranged pickup area once you reach it; walking up and down the curb looking for the car makes it harder for the chauffeur to pull in beside you. If anything is unclear, message the chauffeur or the dispatch desk, whose details are on your confirmation.
Meet and greet inside arrivals: when is it worth adding?
Curbside pickup at the pre-arranged area is what the fare includes. Meet and greet is an optional add-on, available at booking, where the chauffeur waits in the public arrivals hall with a name board, helps with the trolley and walks you to the car. It is worth adding for first-time visitors to Canada, older parents flying alone, guests with limited English, travellers you are hosting for business, families managing children, car seats and several bags, and VIP arrivals where the first impression counts. For frequent flyers with a carry-on, curbside is usually faster: you walk out and the car is there. Either way the flight is tracked, and included waiting starts from actual landing.
Departures: drop-off at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3
Departures are simpler. The chauffeur drops you at the departures level of the terminal on your booking, close to your airline's check-in area where the curb allows, and unloads the bags onto a trolley or the curb. Pickup times are planned backwards from your flight: the airline's recommended arrival time at the terminal, plus 25–45 minutes from downtown, plus a buffer for rush hour, snow or a long-weekend Friday. Passengers flying to the United States clear US preclearance at Pearson before the gate, so allow for that queue. Tell us the flight number when you book and dispatch suggests a pickup time. The downtown Toronto to Pearson route page covers the drive and the traffic windows in detail.
Wrong terminal? Use the Terminal Link train
It happens: a codeshare confusion, a last-minute terminal change, or a relative who dropped you at the building they remembered. Pearson's inter-terminal train, the Terminal Link, connects Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, so you do not need to go outside or find a taxi. For arrivals, if you have walked out at the wrong terminal by mistake, message your chauffeur before you move; it is often quicker for the car to come to you than for you to cross. For departures, if the chauffeur has the right terminal on the booking, you will not have this problem, which is why we ask for the flight number and confirm the terminal the night before an early flight.
The UP Express at Terminal 1, and the connection from Terminal 3
The UP Express station is attached to Terminal 1, with trains to Weston, Mount Dennis, Bloor and Union Station; its operator gives the trip to Union as about 28 minutes, and its schedules are on upexpress.com. Travellers arriving at Terminal 3 who want the train ride the Terminal Link to Terminal 1 first. For a solo traveller with a carry-on heading to a hotel beside Union, that is a reasonable plan. For a family or anyone with heavy bags, the extra connection is where a pre-booked car saves the most effort. Our comparison of UP Express vs taxi vs limo sets out when each wins, and the UP Express to Pearson page covers the stations.
Taxis, rideshare and pre-arranged cars: three different curbs
At both terminals, three systems share the arrivals curb and each has its own place. The taxi and airport limousine stands are for walk-up passengers; a dispatcher at the stand assigns the next licensed vehicle, and Pearson explains them on its taxis and limos page. Rideshare pickups happen in a separate signed zone. Pre-arranged cars, ours included, use the designated pre-arranged pickup area. If you have booked with us, do not join the taxi queue or walk to the rideshare zone; the chauffeur cannot collect you there. If you are unsure which way to go, the terminal staff can point you to the pre-arranged pickup area. Following the signs rather than the crowd is the single most useful tip on this page.

Delays, lost bags and missed connections
When something goes wrong, tell us early and the car adapts. A delayed flight needs no action from you: we track it and the pickup follows the real landing. If you miss a connection elsewhere and arrive on a later flight, send the new flight number and dispatch moves the booking. If a bag is missing, report it at the airline's baggage desk in the reclaim hall before you leave the secure area, and message the chauffeur that you are filing a report; waiting beyond the included time is then added in 15-minute blocks, and nobody leaves without telling you. If your flight is cancelled by the airline, contact dispatch as soon as you know and we move the booking to the new flight.
Children, wheelchairs and extra luggage at the curb
Child seats, whether infant, convertible or booster, are available at booking and fitted before the car reaches the terminal, so you are not installing a seat at a busy curb with a toddler in your arms; give each child's age and weight. For passengers who use a wheelchair or walker and can transfer to a seat, the chauffeur folds and stows it; we have a wheelchair-accessible vehicle for anyone who must stay seated in a wheelchair or scooter, available when booked in advance. Ask your airline for assistance from the aircraft to the curb when you book your flight. Ski bags, golf clubs, instruments and hockey bags should be listed in the booking notes so dispatch sends a vehicle with room, usually an SUV or a Sprinter.
From the terminals to downtown and the GTA
Pearson sits in Mississauga, so many arrivals are not going downtown at all. Typical planning figures by car:
| From Pearson (YYZ) to | Distance | Typical drive | Same place from downtown Toronto |
|---|---|---|---|
| Downtown / Union Station | 27 km | 25–45 min | — |
| Yorkville and Midtown | about 25 km | 25–40 min | 5 km, 10–20 min |
| North York | about 20 km | 20–35 min | 15 km, 20–35 min |
| Mississauga city centre | about 12 km | 15–25 min | 30 km, 30–45 min |
| Vaughan | about 20 km | 20–30 min | 35 km, 30–45 min |
| Markham | about 40 km | 30–45 min | 35 km, 30–45 min |
| Oakville | about 30 km | 25–40 min | 38 km, 30–45 min |
| Billy Bishop (YTZ) | about 30 km | 30–50 min | 3–5 km, 10–20 min |
| Niagara Falls | about 125 km | 80–105 min | 130 km, 85–110 min |
The trip planner covers many more destinations, and our Toronto Pearson airport page covers the airport itself.
Landing for meetings? Keep the car by the hour
If your arrival is the start of a working day, a single transfer is the wrong tool. With the hourly chauffeur service, the same car meets you at the pre-arranged pickup area, keeps your luggage locked in the trunk, waits outside each meeting and drives you to your hotel, or back to Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 for an evening flight. Sedans, SUVs and Sprinters are kept for at least three hours, and longer days extend in 30-minute blocks. It suits roadshows, site visits in Vaughan or Mississauga, and family arrivals that include a stop at relatives' homes before check-in. Our hourly vs point-to-point guide helps you decide which to book.
Booking a Pearson pickup direct
Book on TorontoBlackLimousine.com through our own reservation engine, the floating Book now button or /book/: choose an airport transfer, enter Toronto Pearson, the terminal and flight number, your destination, passengers, luggage and any child seats or meet and greet, and see the fixed, all-in fare, with HST shown separately, before you confirm. Cancelling more than 72 hours ahead costs nothing; inside 72 hours the charge is 10 %, inside 48 hours 50 % and inside 24 hours, or for a no-show, 100 %. If you still need flights or a hotel for the trip, our travel desk can arrange them alongside the car.
