How far is London airport from Toronto, and how long is the drive?
London International Airport is on the northeast edge of London, Ontario, and its code is YXU. The car leaves the airport, joins Highway 401 on the east side of the city and runs east through Woodstock, Cambridge and Milton into Toronto. To the Union Station area that is roughly 195 km and 2 hours 5 minutes to 2 hours 35 minutes in normal conditions. Pearson is on the way, so the drive to Terminal 1 or 3 is shorter, about 175 km and 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes. Friday afternoons, long weekends and winter storms on the open stretches near Woodstock can add a good deal to either figure.
| Trip | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| YXU to downtown Toronto (Union Station area) | about 195 km | 2 h 5 min – 2 h 35 min |
| YXU to Toronto Pearson (YYZ) | about 175 km | 1 h 50 min – 2 h 20 min |
| YXU to Mississauga (city centre) | about 170 km | 1 h 45 min – 2 h 15 min |
| YXU to Kitchener-Waterloo | about 100 km | 65–85 min |
| YXU to Waterloo airport (YKF) | about 95 km | 60–80 min |
| YXU to downtown London | about 10 km | 15–20 min |

Why would a Toronto traveller use London airport?
Mostly because the traveller is really going to or from London. Western University and Fanshawe College draw students, parents and visiting academics; the city's hospitals and research institutes draw clinicians and patients; and southwestern Ontario businesses fly staff in and out. London International also carries a mix of domestic and seasonal sun flights that changes year to year, and some Toronto-area families near the west end of the GTA find a particular YXU departure convenient. Because routes change, we do not publish a list; check the London International Airport site for current flights, and give us your flight number at booking so we can track it.
Is it easier to fly into London or into Pearson for a trip to Toronto?
For a trip that ends in Toronto, Pearson is almost always easier: far more flights and only 27 km from downtown. The London airport to Toronto booking usually happens for other reasons: a flight into YXU was the only good connection, a traveller finished business in London and needs to reach a Toronto meeting, or a flight was diverted. We also drive plenty of people the other way, from Toronto to London for a morning at Western or a hospital appointment, with an afternoon flight home from YXU. If your plan is simply Toronto to London by road, see our Toronto to London, Ontario route.
What does the London airport car service include?
The fare is fixed and all-in before you confirm: chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, 407 ETR tolls if used, airport fees and gratuity, with HST shown separately. No meter, no surge, and no change if the 401 is slow. We track the flight, so delays are handled without a call. Included waiting is 30 minutes after landing on Canadian domestic and US flights and 60 minutes on other international arrivals, then 15-minute blocks. The standard pickup is curbside at the terminal's pickup area; meet & greet inside arrivals with a name board is an optional add-on, and infant, convertible and booster seats are available at booking.
Where will the chauffeur meet me at London International Airport?
YXU has a single, manageable passenger terminal. After you collect your bags, walk out the front doors to the curb, where pre-arranged cars pick up. Before you reach the doors you receive a text with your chauffeur's name, the car's colour and plate, and where it is standing. If you have booked meet & greet, the chauffeur waits inside the arrivals area with a name board instead. We do not print door numbers or lane details we have not verified on the airport's own pages. For business aircraft using the general-aviation side of the field, see the London private aviation page.

Which vehicle should I choose for a YXU to Toronto transfer?
For a two-hour highway run, comfort is worth thinking about. A business sedan takes two passengers with two large bags. A first-class sedan gives one executive a quiet cabin to work or rest in. Families and students moving with boxes and suitcases usually need a business SUV, which seats six with four large bags, or an Executive Sprinter when the luggage is bulky. A Sprinter carries up to twelve for a team or a wedding party arriving together. The reservation engine only offers vehicles that fit your passenger and bag count.
When is hourly chauffeur service better for a London trip?
When the trip is a working day rather than a single transfer. Picture a Toronto executive who flies into YXU, visits a manufacturing plant in the south of the city, meets a research team at Western and then needs to be back on Bay Street by evening. With our hourly chauffeur service, one car and one chauffeur stay with you for a minimum of three hours, extended in 30-minute blocks, and the drive to Toronto becomes the last leg of the booking. Parents moving a student into residence use it the same way: the car waits while boxes go upstairs, then drives everyone home.
What is the 401 like between London and Toronto?
It is a long, mostly straight drive, but it is not always quick. The busiest section is the eastern end through Milton and Mississauga into Toronto, where weekday afternoon peaks and Friday traffic slow things badly. Collisions between Woodstock and Cambridge can close lanes for long periods. In winter, snow squalls off Lake Huron sweep across the 401 near London and Woodstock, sometimes cutting visibility to almost nothing; our cars run winter tires from November to April, and the dispatcher checks Ontario 511 before each departure. When the 401 is stopped, the chauffeur may use Highway 403 or the 407 ETR on the Toronto end; that toll is included.
Can I get from London airport to Pearson for a connecting flight?
Yes, and it is a sensible booking for travellers whose onward flight leaves from Pearson. The drive is about 175 km and 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes. Plan it conservatively: add the airline's check-in cut-off at Pearson, the full drive, and at least 45 minutes of buffer, more in winter. We drop at the departures curb of Terminal 1 or Terminal 3, so check your airline's terminal on the Toronto Pearson website. If you are landing at Pearson and heading to London instead, our Toronto Pearson page explains the pickup procedure.
Is there a train or bus from London to Toronto?
Yes. VIA Rail runs trains between London and Toronto's Union Station, and GO Transit has operated service in the corridor as well; check each operator for current schedules. London's train station is downtown, about 10 km from the airport, so you would need a taxi or local bus first. Intercity buses also run between the two cities. For a solo traveller with a carry-on and no time pressure, rail is a pleasant choice. With checked bags, children, a late arrival or a Toronto meeting to reach, a car from the airport curb to your door is simpler, and several passengers can share it.
Do you serve all of London and southwestern Ontario?
We do. Besides YXU runs, we drive London residents to Pearson for international flights, take students and families to and from Western and Fanshawe, and handle hospital appointments where a comfortable car and a patient chauffeur matter. Our London, Ontario black car page covers the city in detail, and we also run Waterloo airport and Detroit airport transfers for southwestern Ontario travellers. Stretch limousines and party buses for London weddings and proms come through vetted partner operators in the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network.
What happens if my flight into London is delayed or diverted?
Delays cost you nothing: the dispatcher sees the new landing time and moves the pickup. Winter weather sometimes diverts London flights to Toronto or elsewhere. If that happens, message the dispatch desk as soon as you know where you are. If you have landed at Pearson, the booking becomes a Pearson pickup, and if you still need to reach London, the car can take you there instead. If the airline cancels outright and you move to a later flight, we move the booking. Cancellation fees only apply when you cancel the trip yourself: free more than 72 hours ahead, 10 % at 72 hours or less, 50 % at 48 hours or less, 100 % at 24 hours or less or a no-show.
How do I book a car from London airport to Toronto?

Can the travel desk arrange flights and hotels around a London trip?
Yes. Our travel desk, run with BookingWorldwide.net, books flights, hotels and packages, so a YXU flight, a night near Western and the car can be arranged together. For travellers heading overseas afterward, the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network provides chauffeured cars in more than 70 countries and 500 cities, booked on the same Toronto account and run to the same standard.
How does YXU compare with other airports we serve?
London International is the closest airport for London and much of southwestern Ontario, but at about 195 km it is one of the more distant airports from downtown Toronto. Waterloo (YKF) is roughly halfway at 110 km, and Pearson is 27 km. For a Torontonian, YXU makes sense only when the trip is really about London; for a London resident, Pearson is often worth the drive for international flights. Our airports hub lists every airport we serve, with the same km and drive-time figures.
What should students and parents know about a London airport pickup?
Move-in days at Western and Fanshawe in late August and early September are the busiest of the year for London trips, and residence traffic around campus can be slow. Book early, tell us how many boxes and suitcases you have, and choose an SUV or minivan rather than a sedan. The chauffeur loads and unloads the car but cannot carry items into residence buildings. For students flying home at the end of term, a booking from campus to YXU or to Pearson can be made by a parent in Toronto and paid on the parent's account.
