A Toronto to Kingston car service is a private chauffeured car between your Toronto address or Pearson and any address in Kingston, about 260 km and 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours 15 minutes on Highway 401 east. TorontoBlackLimousine.com drives it in both directions, and the fixed all-in fare appears in the reservation engine before you confirm.
Toronto to Kingston car service: who books it and why
Kingston sits at the eastern end of Lake Ontario, where the lake empties into the St. Lawrence, and it is one of the most travelled destinations on the 401. Parents drive students to Queen's University and the Royal Military College, professors and hospital specialists commute for meetings, families head to weddings and cottages on the lakes north of the city, and tourists aim for Fort Henry and the Thousand Islands.
A Toronto to Kingston limo or black car suits all of them for the same reason: three hours is long enough that a train-plus-taxi plan becomes awkward, and short enough that flying rarely makes sense. The car picks you up at your door, the luggage goes in once, and you arrive at the Kingston address you gave. The booking is a city-to-city car service run by our Toronto dispatch desk, not a shared shuttle.
How far is Kingston from downtown Toronto and from Pearson?
Planning figures only; the engine prices your exact addresses, date, time and vehicle.
| Trip | Distance | Typical drive time | Main road |
|---|---|---|---|
| Downtown Toronto to downtown Kingston | about 260 km | 2 h 45 min–3 h 15 min | DVP or 404, 401 east |
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Kingston | about 270 km | 2 h 50 min–3 h 25 min | 401 east |
| Downtown Toronto to Kingston airport (YGK) | about 265 km | 2 h 45 min–3 h 15 min | 401 east |
| Kingston to Gananoque and the Thousand Islands | about 30 km | 25–35 min | 401 or Thousand Islands Parkway |
| Kingston to Ottawa | about 195 km | 2–2.5 h | 401, Highway 416 |
| Kingston to Montreal | about 290 km | 3–3.5 h | 401 east, A-20 |
From Pearson, the drive runs across the top of the city on the 401 or on the tolled 407 ETR and its eastern extension through Durham Region. When the 407 is used, the toll is included in your fare.
Which way does the chauffeur drive to Kingston?
The direct route is the 401 all the way: east past Pickering, Oshawa, Port Hope, Cobourg, Trenton and Belleville, then Napanee and into Kingston on Division Street, Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard or Gardiners Road depending on where you are going. The first 60 km are the slow part on weekday mornings and Friday afternoons; after Oshawa the road opens up.
For a leisurely trip there is a scenic alternative. Leave the 401 at Trenton or Belleville, follow Highway 33, the Loyalist Parkway, through Prince Edward County, cross Adolphus Reach on the Glenora ferry and continue along the lakeshore to Kingston. It adds time, sometimes a lot if the ferry is busy, but it makes a relaxed wine-country day out of the trip. Ask for it at booking so dispatch plans the extra hours.
Where do you stop on the way to Kingston?
Many passengers go straight through. If you want a break, the ONroute centres on this stretch are Port Hope and Trenton South eastbound, with Odessa just before Kingston; westbound there are Napanee, Trenton North and Newcastle. They have washrooms, fuel and quick food.
For something nicer, Cobourg's harbourfront and Port Hope's main street are both a few minutes off the highway and are good places for a coffee. The chauffeur will suggest options depending on your timing, and a short comfort stop is simply part of the trip.

Kingston to Toronto: the trip in the other direction
A Kingston to Toronto car service picks up at your Kingston home, hotel, campus residence or at Kingston Norman Rogers Airport and finishes anywhere in Toronto or at Pearson. It is a popular way for students and families to get to Pearson for flights overseas, because it avoids connecting through Union Station with big suitcases.
For a flight from Pearson, allow the full drive time, add 45 minutes for traffic west of Oshawa, then the airline's check-in advice. For an international departure, most Kingston travellers leave about six hours before the flight. Our article on Kingston to Pearson car service has more tips, and the Kingston city page covers local service.
Is a car better than VIA Rail, flying or the bus to Kingston?
Each option suits a different traveller. This comparison leaves out prices and looks only at what matters on the day.
| Option | Door-to-door time | Luggage | Groups | Working en route |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VIA Rail, Union to Kingston station | about 3.5–4.5 h with transfers | you carry it | tickets for everyone plus taxis | good on board |
| Flight | rarely practical; few direct options | airline limits | several tickets | brief |
| Intercity bus | 4–5 h with transfers | limited | crowded | difficult |
| Driving yourself | about 3 h, plus parking | good | one person drives | not for the driver |
| Private chauffeur | 2 h 45 min–3 h 15 min, no transfers | what the vehicle holds | one vehicle | the whole way |
VIA Rail is a sensible choice for one person with a backpack, because Kingston's station and Union Station are both on the corridor. The private car is easier for families, anyone moving belongings, anyone starting or ending far from a station, and groups who would otherwise buy several tickets and then need two taxis at Kingston's station, which sits on the north side of the city rather than downtown.
Queen's, RMC and St. Lawrence College move-in days
The biggest Kingston weekends for us are move-in and move-out. Queen's University, the Royal Military College and St. Lawrence College bring thousands of students to town at the start of term, and families want to arrive with everything in one trip. A Sprinter luxury van carries a family and a whole residence room's worth of boxes; an SUV holds six people and four large cases.
For convocation, parents often book the car by the hour so the chauffeur waits during the ceremony and takes everyone to lunch afterwards. Book early for move-in and convocation weekends; they fill up. Our graduation and convocation page has planning ideas.

Hourly chauffeur in Kingston for a day of meetings
Kingston has a university hospital, federal offices, a military college and a busy research community, so many trips from Toronto are day trips with several stops. For those, the hourly chauffeur service is better than a one-way transfer: the car and chauffeur stay with you from the Toronto pickup to the Toronto drop-off, wait outside each appointment, and keep your bags in the trunk.
A typical day might be a 7 a.m. pickup in midtown Toronto, meetings in Kingston from late morning to mid-afternoon, and home for dinner. Hourly bookings start at three hours for sedans, SUVs, vans and Sprinters, with extra time in 30-minute blocks. For a round trip of this length, one chauffeur can drive both legs comfortably, resting while you are in your meetings.
Medical appointments and family visits in Kingston
Patients travel between Toronto and Kingston for specialist care in both directions, and a private car is kinder than the 401 in your own vehicle after a procedure. The chauffeur waits during the appointment on an hourly booking. We fold and stow wheelchairs and walkers for passengers who can transfer to a seat; we have a wheelchair-accessible vehicle for anyone who must stay seated in a wheelchair or scooter, available when booked in advance. See medical appointments.
Families visiting relatives in Kingston, or bringing an older parent to Toronto for a holiday, like that the car comes to the door at both ends and that child seats are available at booking.
Fort Henry, the Thousand Islands and a day out from Toronto
Kingston is also a destination in its own right. Fort Henry is a restored 19th-century fort above the harbour, the waterfront and the limestone downtown are made for walking, and the Thousand Islands begin just east of the city. A chauffeured day trip from Toronto can combine the fort, lunch downtown and a boat cruise from Kingston or Gananoque, then home in the evening.
For that kind of day, the hourly booking is the right format. For more ideas, see our Toronto to Thousand Islands route and the city's own tourism site, Visit Kingston. Check opening seasons directly with each attraction; several are seasonal.
Weddings and events around Kingston
The Kingston area has many wedding venues, from downtown heritage buildings to farms and waterfront properties in Prince Edward County and along the St. Lawrence. Toronto families often need guests moved from Toronto or Pearson to the venue and back. Sprinters work well as guest shuttles, and SUVs or first-class sedans suit the wedding party.
Stretch limousines and larger coaches come from vetted partner operators through the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network and are priced in writing by a coordinator. See wedding limo service for how we plan it.
Which vehicle for the Kingston run?
One or two travellers are comfortable in a business sedan, or in the electric Tesla Model Y if you prefer, and executives often choose the first-class sedan. Families and small groups take the SUV or the premier luxury SUV. Seven colleagues travelling to a meeting fit the executive Sprinter, and up to twelve people with luggage fit the Sprinter luxury van.
Winter driving between Toronto and Kingston
The 401 between Belleville and Kingston catches lake-effect snow and wind off Lake Ontario, and whiteouts can close lanes quickly. Our cars run winter tires from November to April, the chauffeur checks Ontario 511 and weather warnings before leaving, and dispatch calls you if the departure should move. If a detour is needed, your fixed fare stays the same.
What the fare includes, and cancellations
The fixed fare covers chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, 407 ETR tolls if used, airport fees where they apply and gratuity, with HST shown separately. The vehicle class, exact addresses, date and time, extra stops and waiting, and one-way versus hourly all change it. See how our fares work.
Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup; 10 % at 72 hours or less, 50 % at 48 hours or less, and 100 % at 24 hours or less or for a no-show.
Flights, hotels and a longer trip
If Kingston is one stop on a longer journey, perhaps Toronto, Kingston, Ottawa and Montreal, our travel desk can book hotels and flights around the drive. Continuing east? See Toronto to Montreal and Toronto to Ottawa.
