A graduation limo in Toronto is usually an hourly booking for convocation day: an SUV or Sprinter that collects family, drops the graduate at the ceremony, waits through photos and drives everyone to lunch. Book three to five hours, or a 4 to 5-hour graduation party bus for the celebration. Book the convocation car and the fixed fare shows before you confirm.
Graduation limo Toronto: what does a convocation-day booking cover?
A graduation limo in Toronto does more than one ride. On convocation day the graduate needs to arrive early for robing and line-up, grandparents may be landing at Pearson that morning, the ceremony length is never exact, photos on campus take an hour, and then there is lunch or dinner across town. Booking one vehicle by the hour through our hourly chauffeur service keeps all of that on one plan with one chauffeur.
The fare on the reservation engine includes the vehicle, chauffeur, fuel, 407 ETR tolls if used and the gratuity, with HST shown separately. It changes with vehicle class, hours, date and distance; mid-June weekdays near the big campuses book up early.
Who books a convocation limo in Toronto?
- Parents and grandparents who want the day to feel special and do not want to fight for campus parking.
- Graduates booking for their own family, especially international students whose parents fly in for the ceremony.
- Friend groups booking a graduation party bus for the celebration afterwards.
- High school graduates and parents: the prom has its own page, the prom and graduation limo service; this page covers the ceremony day and family logistics.
- Families travelling to convocations elsewhere: Waterloo, Hamilton, Guelph or Kingston.
A convocation limo is also a practical answer for a family member who uses a cane, walker or folding wheelchair and cannot manage long walks from distant parking lots. Other family milestones are on our occasions page.
When are convocations held in Toronto?
Most Toronto universities hold their main convocation ceremonies in June, with smaller ceremonies in the autumn for fall graduates; colleges set their own dates. Exact days, times and ticketing are published by each school, so check before you book the car:
- University of Toronto: the U of T convocation site, with ceremony schedules, tickets and information on Convocation Hall.
- Toronto Metropolitan University: the TMU convocation site.
- York University: the York convocation site.
Colleges such as Humber and Seneca post their own schedules. The day's timetable usually asks graduates to arrive well ahead of the ceremony for robes and line-up; build the car booking around that arrival time, not the ceremony start.
How far are the main campuses from downtown and from Pearson?
Planning figures; traffic around Queen's Park and University Avenue is heavy at weekday rush hour, and campus roads are slow on convocation mornings.
| Campus | From downtown (Union) | From Pearson (YYZ) |
|---|---|---|
| U of T St. George (Convocation Hall area) | About 3 km, 10–20 min | About 25 km, 25–40 min |
| Toronto Metropolitan University | About 2 km, 5–15 min | About 27 km, 25–45 min |
| York University, Keele campus | About 25 km, 30–45 min | About 20 km, 20–30 min |
| U of T Scarborough | About 33 km, 30–45 min | About 40 km, 35–50 min |
| U of T Mississauga | About 33 km, 30–45 min | About 20 km, 20–30 min |
| Humber North campus | About 28 km, 30–40 min | About 12 km, 15–20 min |
| Seneca Newnham campus | About 27 km, 30–45 min | About 30 km, 25–40 min |
The university and hospital campuses page has more detail on drop-off areas for each campus.
How does a typical convocation day run with a chauffeur?
A five-and-a-half-hour plan we drive often for a St. George campus ceremony:
| Time | Stop | Distance and drive | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8:00 am | Collect grandparents, Pearson T1 or T3 | About 25 km, 25–40 min | Flight tracked |
| 8:50 am | Collect graduate and parents, Etobicoke | About 15 km, 20 min | Robes and flowers on board |
| 9:30 am | Campus drop, nearest legal curb | About 15 km, 25–35 min | Graduate goes to robing |
| 10:30 am – 12:30 pm | Ceremony and photos | Chauffeur waits nearby | Text when ready |
| 1:00 pm | Family lunch, Yorkville or the Annex | About 2 km, 10 min | Waits through lunch |
| 2:30 pm | Grandparents to hotel, family home | Varies | End of booking |
Booked as single rides, that is four separate trips and a lot of waiting on a curb in gowns.
Which vehicle suits a graduation family?
| Party | Vehicle | Hourly minimum | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Graduate and 1 guest | Business sedan | 3 h | Simple and smart |
| Up to 6 with gowns and flowers | SUV or premier luxury SUV | 3 h | Room for bags and a walker |
| Up to 7, grandparents included | Executive Sprinter | 3 h | Stand-up headroom, easy step |
| Up to 12, extended family | Sprinter luxury van | 3 h | Everyone in one vehicle |
| 8–18 friends | Stretch limousine | 4 h | Photo arrival at the party |
| 20 or 30 friends | Party bus | 4–5 h | Graduation party bus |
SUVs, Sprinters and sedans are our own vehicles; stretch limousines and party buses come from vetted partner operators in the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network.
Why book by the hour on convocation day?
Ceremony lengths depend on how many graduates cross the stage, and the photo session afterwards depends on the crowd and the weather. Nobody can tell you when the family will be ready to leave. With an hourly booking the chauffeur waits a short walk away and comes back when you text, without the meter anxiety of a ride-hail car or the risk that no car is free at the moment hundreds of families leave at once.
It also means a second or third stop costs nothing extra inside the booked hours: a florist, a bakery for the cake, a grandparent's hotel, a family photo at a favourite spot. The hourly versus point-to-point guide explains the comparison in more detail.
Where can the car drop off and wait on campus?
Downtown campuses have very little parking, and roads close to the main halls are often restricted on convocation days. The chauffeur drops at the nearest legal curb, which may be a short walk from the hall, and then waits nearby. Graduates in gowns should allow a few extra minutes for the walk and for crowds.
Schools post visitor and accessibility information on their convocation pages; if a family member needs a drop as close as possible, check those pages and tell dispatch. York's Keele and the suburban campuses have more space, though their lots fill early.
What if grandparents or family fly in for the ceremony?
International families often land the day before. The chauffeur collects them at Toronto Pearson, about 27 km and 25 to 45 minutes from downtown, with flight tracking and waiting from actual landing: 30 minutes on Canadian domestic and US flights, 60 minutes on other international arrivals. Curbside pickup at the terminal's pre-arranged pickup area is included; a meet and greet inside arrivals with a name board is an optional add-on at booking.
Our travel desk can handle flights and hotel stays for the family, and the Financial District hotels and midtown hotels pages give drive times from each area to the campuses. The family arrivals page covers coordinating several flights.
Graduation party bus: what are the rules?
A graduation party bus suits a group of twenty or thirty friends celebrating after the ceremony or after exams. The rules depend on age. If any passenger is under 19, the whole booking is alcohol-free, a parent or guardian contact is listed, and pickups and drops happen only at listed addresses. For adult graduates the rule is just as plain: alcohol is not allowed on the bus, whatever the guests' ages, and the drinking happens at licensed venues; the AGCO is Ontario's regulator.
The chauffeur never drinks and can end the trip if anyone becomes unsafe. The party bus rental page covers bus sizes.
Can we book a convocation car for a ceremony outside Toronto?
Many Toronto families have graduates at schools elsewhere in Ontario. Typical drives from downtown: Hamilton (McMaster) 68 km, 50 to 75 minutes; Guelph 95 km, 65 to 85 minutes; Waterloo 110 km, 75 to 95 minutes; Kingston (Queen's and RMC) 260 km, about 2.75 to 3.25 hours; Ottawa 450 km, 4.5 to 5 hours.
A day trip to Waterloo or Hamilton works as a single hourly booking of seven to nine hours. Kingston or Ottawa is better as a one-way with a return the next day, or with the chauffeur staying over. See the Kitchener-Waterloo and Toronto to Kingston pages for routes and timing.
How do we handle accessibility on graduation day?
Many convocation families include an older relative who walks slowly or uses a mobility aid. Choose a vehicle with an easy step, such as a Sprinter with a running board or a sedan, ask for the closest legal drop, and tell dispatch about walkers or a folding wheelchair, which the chauffeur stows in the back. We have a wheelchair-accessible vehicle for anyone who must stay seated in a wheelchair or scooter, available when booked in advance, and the medical appointments page explains the options honestly.
The chauffeur offers an arm, carries bags and gowns, and waits while everyone settles before moving off.

What about high school graduation ceremonies?
High school graduation ceremonies in Toronto are usually held in the school gym or auditorium, or at a rented hall, in late June. They are shorter and closer to home than a university convocation, and families often want a car mostly for the ride to a celebratory dinner. An SUV or Sprinter for three hours covers the ceremony, photos in the schoolyard and dinner nearby.
When the graduates themselves ride together to an after-party, the booking follows our youth rules: no alcohol for anyone, a parent or guardian contact, and stops only at listed addresses. Prom night itself is covered on the prom limo page.
Can the chauffeur help with flowers, gifts and photos?
Yes, within reason. The chauffeur can collect a bouquet you have ordered on the way to the first pickup, keep gifts and a cake box steady in the cargo area, and hold the door for a family photo beside the car. Gowns and hoods ride flat on a seat or in a garment bag so they are not crushed.
Chauffeurs do not take the formal photographs, but they will happily take a phone picture of the whole family at the curb. Tell dispatch about any collection stop when you book, so the time is included.
What are the busiest dates and how early should we book?
June is the tightest month of the year for chauffeured vehicles in Toronto: university convocations, high school proms, weddings and the start of festival season overlap. Book convocation cars as soon as the ceremony date and time are published, ideally four to six weeks ahead. Party buses and stretch limousines for June Saturdays may need longer.
Fall convocations are quieter, but winter weather can arrive early; our cars run winter tires from November to April. Cancellation is measured from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours is free; 72 hours or less is 10 %; 48 hours or less is 50 %; 24 hours or less or a no-show is 100 %.

How do we book a convocation limo directly?
- Check the ceremony time and the graduate's arrival time on the school's convocation site.
- Open the reservation engine, choose hourly service and the vehicle for the whole family.
- Enter the first pickup (home, hotel or Pearson), date, time and hours; list the campus, lunch and other stops in the notes.
- Add child seats or a meet and greet if needed.
- Review the fixed fare and confirm. Party buses and multi-vehicle bookings are confirmed in writing by a coordinator.
Pets travelling with the family need prior approval at booking.
