A Toronto to Quebec City car service is a private chauffeured car from your Toronto address or Pearson to any Quebec City address, about 800 km and 8 to 9 hours of driving on Highway 401 and Autoroute 20 or 40, plus breaks. TorontoBlackLimousine.com plans it as a full travel day, runs it in both directions, and shows the fixed fare in the reservation engine first.
Toronto to Quebec City car service: a full day on the road, planned properly
Quebec City is the longest regular Canadian trip we drive, roughly the distance from Toronto to New York City. It is not a transfer; it is a travel day. The chauffeur picks you up in the morning, and with a lunch stop and a couple of short breaks you arrive in Quebec City in the late afternoon or early evening, at the door of your hotel in Old Quebec, a family home in Sainte-Foy or Charlesbourg, or an office near the National Assembly.
People choose a Toronto to Quebec City limo or black car for three main reasons: they are a family or group with a lot of luggage, they want to see the St. Lawrence valley rather than an airport, or someone in the party cannot fly or does not want to. It is booked like any city-to-city car service, but dispatch plans chauffeur hours, rest breaks and the car's return with more care than on a shorter run.
How far is Quebec City from downtown Toronto and from Pearson?
Planning figures only. The reservation engine prices your exact addresses, date, time and vehicle.
| Trip | Distance | Typical driving time | Main roads |
|---|---|---|---|
| Downtown Toronto to Old Quebec | about 800 km | 8–9 h, plus breaks | 401, A-20 or A-40 |
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Quebec City | about 810 km | 8–9.5 h, plus breaks | 401, A-20 or A-40 |
| Downtown Toronto to Quebec City airport (YQB) | about 790 km | 8–9 h, plus breaks | 401, A-20, bridge to Sainte-Foy |
| Downtown Toronto to Montreal (a natural overnight) | about 545 km | 5.5–6.5 h | 401, A-20 |
| Montreal to Quebec City | about 255 km | 2.5–3 h | A-20 or A-40 |
With a 45-minute lunch and two 15-minute stops, most departures from Toronto at 8 a.m. arrive in Quebec City between 5 and 6:30 p.m.
Which route: the south shore on A-20 or the north shore on A-40?
The first 540 km are the same as the drive to Montreal: Highway 401 east through Belleville, Kingston, Brockville and Cornwall to the Quebec line, where the road becomes Autoroute 20. From there, there are two ways to Quebec City.
The south-shore route avoids the island of Montreal by using the A-30 bypass, then follows the A-20 past Drummondville to Lévis, crossing the St. Lawrence into Quebec City on the Pierre-Laporte Bridge. It is usually the quicker choice when Montreal traffic is heavy. The north-shore route goes through Montreal and follows the A-40 along the river through Trois-Rivières, entering Quebec City from the west; it suits trips with a stop in Montreal or Trois-Rivières. The chauffeur picks on the day, using road reports, and the confirmed fare does not change with the route.
Where do you stop on an eight-hour drive?
On a trip this long, stops are part of the plan. In Ontario, the ONroute service centres eastbound at Port Hope, Trenton South, Odessa, Mallorytown South and Morrisburg are the usual fuel-and-washroom breaks; westbound on the way home there are Bainsville, Ingleside, Mallorytown North, Napanee, Trenton North and Newcastle. In Quebec, the autoroutes have their own service areas and plenty of towns just off the highway.
For lunch, Kingston's waterfront is a pleasant halfway point to Montreal, and many passengers break the day in the Montreal area or at Drummondville or Trois-Rivières. Tell dispatch at booking how you like to travel, and the chauffeur plans the stops around your group.

Chauffeur hours: one driver, two drivers or an overnight?
Eight to nine hours of driving, plus stops, is a full working day for one chauffeur, and we plan it that way. One chauffeur can drive Toronto to Quebec City in a single day with proper breaks, then rest overnight before returning or before driving you home the next day.
What one chauffeur cannot safely do is drive there and back in the same day, or drive a full day to Quebec City after a late night. For a non-stop schedule, dispatch assigns two chauffeurs who share the driving. For most families, the better plan is simpler: one travel day there, time in Quebec City, one travel day back. Some groups prefer to break the trip in Montreal, with a night there on the way out or the way back. We will never stretch a single chauffeur beyond a safe shift.
One way or round trip to Quebec City?
A one-way booking drops you in Quebec City and the car returns to Toronto; the one-way fare already takes that return into account. It suits people staying for a long visit, flying home from Quebec City's Jean Lesage airport, or continuing east.
A round trip can be booked as two separate one-way drives on different dates, or as a multi-day booking where the car and chauffeur stay with you in Quebec City. The second option is useful when you want the car for day trips, to Montmorency Falls, Île d'Orléans or the Charlevoix coast. Dispatch arranges the chauffeur's overnight stays and includes them in the confirmed figure.
Quebec City to Toronto: the trip home
The reverse trip works the same way. The chauffeur is in Quebec City in time for your pickup at your hotel, home or at Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport, and drives you to any Toronto address or to Pearson. For a flight from Pearson, a same-day connection is tight; most people stay the night near Pearson and fly the next morning, and our Pearson airport page and travel desk can help with that.
Quebec road signs, language and driving rules
Once the car crosses into Quebec, road signs are in French. Useful words for passengers following along: "Sortie" means exit, "Est" and "Ouest" are east and west, "Arrêt" is the stop sign, "Pont" is a bridge and "Centre-ville" points downtown. Speed limits are in km/h, as in Ontario. Right turns on red are allowed in most of Quebec but not on the island of Montreal, which matters if the route passes through the city.
Quebec requires winter tires on Quebec-registered vehicles from December 1 to March 15, as explained on the Quebec government's winter tire page. Our Ontario cars run winter tires from November to April regardless. The SAAQ publishes Quebec road-safety rules. In Quebec City itself, French is the main language in shops and restaurants; English is widely understood in the tourist areas of Old Quebec.
Toronto to Quebec City by car, train or plane?
A comparison without prices, looking at the full door-to-door day.
| Option | Door-to-door time | Luggage | Groups | Working en route |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flight YYZ or YTZ to YQB | 4–5 h with airport time and transfers | airline limits | several tickets and taxis | briefly |
| VIA Rail, usually with a change in Montreal | 9–10 h or more with transfers | you carry it through the change | tickets for everyone | good on board |
| Intercity coach | 11 h or more, usually with a change | limited | crowded | difficult |
| Driving yourself | 8–9 h driving, one person at the wheel | good | fine | not for the driver |
| Private chauffeur | 8–9 h driving plus planned stops | what the vehicle holds | one vehicle | the whole way |
Flying is the fastest option for a small party with light bags. Check VIA Rail for current routes and connections. The chauffeured car is the better choice for families with lots of luggage, for groups who want to travel together, for people who cannot or prefer not to fly, and for anyone who wants to stop along the way.
Which vehicle for eight hours on the road?
Comfort is everything on a trip this long. For one or two travellers, the first-class sedan gives the most rear-seat space, and the business sedan is a comfortable alternative. Families of up to six take the SUV or the premier luxury SUV, with room for four large bags.
For groups, the Sprinters are ideal: the executive Sprinter seats seven in a lounge layout, the first-class executive Sprinter seats six in reclining captain's chairs, and the Sprinter luxury van carries up to twelve with their luggage. Over eight hours, it is well worth choosing one size up from the minimum.

Families, school groups and winter visits
Quebec City is a favourite family trip from Toronto, especially in winter when Old Quebec is at its most picturesque and the winter carnival usually runs in late January and February; check the official carnival site for dates. Families with young children like the private car because naps, snacks and stops happen when needed, and child seats (infant, convertible and booster) are available at booking.
Groups of students, choirs or sports teams travelling to Quebec City often use a Sprinter, or for larger groups a coach from a vetted partner operator in the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network, priced in writing by a coordinator.
Business and government travel to Quebec City
Quebec City is the provincial capital, so Toronto executives, consultants and lawyers regularly need to be there for meetings with ministries, agencies and companies. For a single meeting, flying is usually quicker. The car makes sense when a team is travelling with materials, when the trip takes in Montreal on the way, or when the schedule includes several stops. With the hourly chauffeur service, the car stays with you in Quebec City between meetings, with a three-hour minimum and extra time in 30-minute blocks.
Old Quebec drop-offs and winter in the city
Old Quebec, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has narrow, steep and sometimes one-way streets, and a few lanes in the lower town are pedestrian-only. The chauffeur drops you as close to your hotel entrance as the streets allow and helps with luggage for the last few steps. In winter, snow and ice on the hills make careful driving essential; our cars have winter tires from November to April.
The official tourism office, Québec City Tourism, lists events and seasonal information, and is the best place to check what is open during your stay.
What the fare covers, and cancellations
The fixed fare covers chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, 407 ETR tolls if used, airport fees where they apply and gratuity, with HST shown separately. It changes with the vehicle class, the exact addresses, the date and time, planned stops, a second chauffeur, overnight stays, and whether you go one way or keep the car. See how our fares work.
Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup; 10 % at 72 hours or less, 50 % at 48 hours or less, and 100 % at 24 hours or less or for a no-show.
