A TIFF Toronto limo is a chauffeured car, usually on an hourly booking, for the Toronto International Film Festival, which runs for 11 days each September around King Street West. The festival core is about 1 km from Union Station and about 27 km, typically 25–45 minutes, from Pearson (YYZ). Keep one car and chauffeur for screenings, meetings and parties, and book direct to see the fixed fare first.
TIFF Toronto limo: who books us during festival week
The Toronto International Film Festival fills the city with three overlapping groups: guests attending premieres and galas, industry delegates running a schedule of screenings and meetings, and visitors who simply want a smooth night out during the busiest week on King Street. All three book the same thing from TorontoBlackLimousine.com: one car and one licensed professional chauffeur, on a fixed, all-in fare shown in our reservation engine before you confirm. For festival work the hourly chauffeur service is the default, because a day at TIFF is never one trip; it is six or eight short ones, with waiting in between, and plans that change as invitations arrive.
When is TIFF?
TIFF takes place in September and runs for 11 days, usually starting in the first half of the month. Opening weekend is the busiest for premieres and road closures. Dates for the next edition are published by the festival; its website does not open for our link checker, so search "TIFF" for the official schedule rather than relying on any third-party date. Book cars as soon as you know your dates: festival week is one of the heaviest weeks of the year for chauffeured transport in Toronto, and first-class sedans and executive Sprinters are reserved early by studios, agencies and sponsors.
Where does the festival happen?
The heart of TIFF is the stretch of King Street West between University Avenue and Spadina Avenue, around the TIFF Lightbox at King and John Streets, with Roy Thomson Hall at King and Simcoe and the theatres of the Theatre District nearby. Screenings also spread to other cinemas and venues around the core. The hotels that fill with festival guests are mainly in the Entertainment District, the Financial District and Yorkville, so most festival driving happens inside a 5 km triangle. Distances are short; time is the problem, because closures, crowds and security turn a five-minute hop into twenty-five.
Festival Street and King Street closures
For the opening days the festival turns King Street West into Festival Street, a pedestrian zone with music, food and outdoor screenings. In 2026 King Street West was closed to traffic between Peter Street and University Avenue from 10 to 13 September, according to local coverage of the festival; check the City's notices on toronto.ca for the current year. While the street is closed, cars cannot drop on King itself. We drop and collect on the north–south streets and on Adelaide, Wellington and Front, a block from your venue, and tell you the exact corner by text. After the pedestrian zone ends, police still manage traffic around red-carpet arrivals on premiere nights.
Planning distances in festival week
| From | To the King Street West festival core | Typical festival-week drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Union Station / Financial District hotels | about 1 km | 5–15 min |
| Yorkville hotels | about 4 km | 15–30 min |
| Waterfront / Queens Quay hotels | about 2 km | 10–20 min |
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) | about 27 km | 25–45 min, longer at rush hour |
| Billy Bishop (YTZ) | 3–5 km | 10–20 min |
| Midtown / Yonge and Eglinton | about 8 km | 20–35 min |
| Mississauga | about 30 km | 35–55 min |
| Vaughan / Markham | about 35 km | 40–60 min |
Figures are typical planning times. During opening weekend we routinely add a buffer to every pickup, and the reservation engine quotes the exact fixed fare for your route and vehicle.
Arriving at Pearson or Billy Bishop for TIFF
Delegates and guests land at Pearson and at Billy Bishop all through the first weekend. At Pearson the chauffeur meets you at the pre-arranged pickup area on the arrivals curb of Terminal 1 or 3, or inside arrivals with a name board if you add meet and greet at booking; flights are tracked and waiting runs from actual landing, 30 minutes on Canadian and US flights and 60 on other international arrivals. From Billy Bishop the car collects you at the mainland side on Eireann Quay, a few minutes from the festival hotels. See our Pearson airport limo page for terminal details.
Red carpets: what a chauffeur can and cannot do
People search for a "TIFF red carpet" limo expecting a car to pull up at the carpet itself. In reality, red-carpet arrivals at festival premieres are controlled by the festival, the studios and security, and access depends on credentials issued for that screening. If your production or publicist has arranged a vehicle arrival, we follow their instructions to the letter: the time slot, the approach street and the holding point. If you are a ticket holder without a carpet arrival, we drop you at the nearest practical point and you walk in with everyone else. We never promise carpet access we cannot deliver; we do promise the car will be where it needs to be when you come out.
A typical industry day on an hourly booking
- Morning pickup at a Yorkville hotel, coffee meeting in the Financial District.
- Press and industry screenings around King West through the late morning.
- Lunch with a sales agent, then an interview block at a hotel suite.
- An early evening premiere, followed by a dinner and one or two parties.
- Back to the hotel well after midnight.
That is ten or more legs in one day. With an hourly booking the chauffeur stays nearby, and stops added mid-day cost you nothing in planning. Sedans and SUVs have a 3-hour minimum and extra time runs in 30-minute blocks; many delegates book a full day for several days in a row. Our private chauffeur service explains how multi-day bookings work.
Choosing the right vehicle for premieres and parties
festival week.
- First-class sedan (Mercedes S-Class or equivalent): the classic premiere arrival for one or two guests.
- Premier luxury SUV: for a small party or a guest with a stylist and assistant; easy to step out of in formal wear.
- Executive or first-class executive Sprinter: for a cast, a delegation or a team moving between screenings together.
- Rolls-Royce or Maybach: on request through the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network, subject to availability in
All classes are on our fleet page; for a statement arrival see the Rolls-Royce chauffeur page.
Production companies, studios and agencies
Festival transport for a film's team is a logistics exercise: talent, producers, publicists and guests moving between hotels, press junkets, premieres and parties on a schedule that changes daily. We run those programmes on one account, with a dispatcher who receives the updated call sheet and reassigns cars as the day changes. Our film and TV production and VIP event transportation pages describe how we handle confidentiality, passenger lists and invoicing. We sign NDAs where requested and our chauffeurs do not discuss passengers.
Festival hotels and where to stay
Most festival guests stay in the Entertainment District hotels for walking distance to King Street, or in the Yorkville hotels for a quieter base and the boutiques of Bloor Street. Rooms sell out early and at peak rates. Our travel desk can arrange flights and hotels through BookingWorldwide.net, and we book the car on the same itinerary. If your hotel is outside the core, an hourly car is even more important, because the drive in can take longer than the screening.
Getting around when streets are closed
During festival week the downtown grid also carries the usual evening commute, construction, and sometimes a Blue Jays game at Rogers Centre or an event at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, both a few blocks south. On those evenings we route via Richmond and Adelaide, the east–west one-way pair north of King, and use side streets for drop-offs. The chauffeur texts the pickup corner before you leave a venue so you are not searching for the car in a crowd. For screenings that let out at the same time as a premiere next door, walking one block north or south saves a lot of time.
TIFF for visitors: screenings, dinner and the city
You do not need an industry pass to enjoy the festival. Public screenings, Festival Street and the atmosphere on King Street draw visitors from across Ontario and beyond. A popular evening plan: pickup in Oakville or Markham, dinner on King West, a public screening, a drink in the Entertainment District and the drive home. Daytime, pair the festival with the CN Tower or a walk through the Financial District. Visitors planning a full weekend can see TIFF and other festivals on our events page for the rest of the September calendar, and our concert and game-day limo page if a game or show is on the same trip.
Late finishes, after-parties and the ride home
Festival nights run late. Premieres are followed by receptions, receptions by parties, and the last guests often leave well after 1 am, when taxis are scarce and app fares on King Street spike. An hourly chauffeur who has been with you since the evening started simply drives you back to the hotel, or drops several guests at different addresses across the city in one run. If you only need a car for the end of the night, book a one-way pickup with a generous time window and tell dispatch the venue; the chauffeur waits at an agreed corner and texts when in position. For guests staying in the 905, a late drive home along an empty Gardiner or 401 is usually quick, typically 25–45 minutes to Mississauga, Vaughan or Markham, and far more relaxing than the last GO train.
Etiquette, privacy and discretion
Our chauffeurs wear dark suits, keep the car clean and quiet, and do not post, photograph or discuss passengers. If you are a public figure arriving at a premiere, we coordinate with your team on approach routes and holding points away from photographers. For guests who need a lower profile, a dark SUV and a side-street pickup are usually the best combination. Read our chauffeur tipping and etiquette guide for what to expect in the car.
