NXNE 2026 ran June 10 to 14 in Toronto, with hundreds of artists across 30-plus venues around Queen West, Kensington Market, Bloor West and Yorkville. Most venues sit 2 to 5 km and 5 to 20 minutes from Union Station. For a showcase crawl, an hourly chauffeur (3-hour minimum) moving you between clubs and home after the last set is simpler than hailing rides at 2 am.
What was NXNE 2026, and where did it happen?
NXNE 2026, North by Northeast, ran from June 10 to 14 according to the festival's official site. Like recent editions it was a club festival rather than a single-site show: hundreds of emerging and established artists across about 30 venues, clustered around Queen Street West, Kensington Market, Bloor West and, new this year, a stage at the W Toronto in Yorkville. The festival's artist and industry hub sat near Queen and Spadina, and there were pop-up performances at Union Station and at both Toronto airports. Our NXNE and Yorkville events car service page covers the booking side; this post is a field guide to the venues, the timing and the ride home, and it applies to the next edition too, which normally returns in June.
Why is NXNE harder to get around than a stadium show?
A stadium concert has one entrance, one finish time and one crowd heading for the same subway. NXNE is the opposite. You might see a 9 pm set in Kensington, a 10:30 showcase on Queen West and an 11:45 headliner on Bloor, each in a room of a few hundred people. The sets run on festival time, which means late. Between venues, streets are full of other fans doing the same thing. Ride-hail prices and wait times climb after midnight in June because bar closing, festival crowds and summer patios overlap. And the last set often ends after the subway has slowed for the night. A car that stays with you removes the guesswork from every one of those moves.
How far apart are the NXNE venue clusters?
These are planning distances and drive times on a June evening. The reservation engine quotes the exact fixed fare for your pickup and timing.
| Trip | Distance | Typical evening drive |
|---|---|---|
| Union Station to Queen West (Spadina to Ossington) | about 2 to 4 km | 5 to 15 min |
| Queen West to Kensington Market | about 1 km | 5 min |
| Kensington Market to Bloor West venues | about 3 km | 10 min |
| Queen West to Yorkville (W Toronto area) | about 4 km | 10 to 20 min |
| Yorkville to Union Station | about 5 km | 10 to 20 min |
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Queen West | about 25 km | 25 to 40 min |
| Billy Bishop (YTZ) to Queen West | about 3 km | 10 to 15 min |
The figures look short, and they are. The point of a car is not distance; it is being at the curb when the set ends.
How does an hourly chauffeur work on a showcase night?
You book one car and one chauffeur by the hour, with a 3-hour minimum for a sedan, SUV or Sprinter and extra time in 30-minute blocks. Send the chauffeur your first venue and a rough plan. At each stop, you are dropped at the nearest legal curb; the car parks or circles nearby, and you text five minutes before you leave. If a set runs late or you decide to stay for one more band, nothing needs rebooking; the hour simply rolls on. At the end of the night, the car takes everyone home, including friends in different neighbourhoods. The hourly chauffeur service page covers the details. For a single show and a ride home, a one-way booking is fine.
What does a realistic NXNE night look like?
A plan for three friends staying in Yorkville:
- 8:15 pm Pickup at the hotel in a six-seat SUV.
- 8:30 pm Dinner on Ossington, about 5 km away.
- 9:45 pm Short hop to a Queen West venue for the first set.
- 11:00 pm Kensington Market showcase, about 1 km on.
- 12:30 am Bloor West headliner, about 3 km north.
- 2:00 am Back to Yorkville, about 3 km.
Several moves, three sets and one car: book a 6-hour block and extend in 30-minute steps if the last set runs late. Groups doing this as a Friday-and-Saturday pair often book the same chauffeur both nights.

Where does the car stop on Queen West and in Kensington?
Queen Street West has streetcar tracks down the middle and limited stopping, especially between Spadina and Bathurst, so drop-offs often happen on side streets just north or south. Kensington Market is a maze of narrow one-way streets, and on festival nights some are crowded with pedestrians; the chauffeur will usually stop on Spadina Avenue, College Street or Dundas Street and you walk in. Bloor West venues are easier, with side streets off Bloor for a quick pickup. Yorkville hotels have their own drives. Our chauffeurs text the exact pickup corner when you are ready, which beats standing on Queen at 1 am refreshing a ride-hail app.
Which vehicle suits a festival night?
Two people are comfortable in a business sedan, the Tesla Model Y or a first-class sedan for an industry guest. Three to six want an SUV, which also handles gear bags and merch. For a band, a label team or a group of seven, the executive Sprinter is the obvious pick: everybody in one vehicle, and room for a couple of guitar cases. Larger groups use the 12-seat Sprinter luxury van. Tell us at booking about instruments or equipment; we will fit them where they safely go, but a full backline needs a cargo van, not a passenger vehicle. Alcohol is not allowed in any of our vehicles, so finish drinks inside the venue.
Is NXNE a good fit for music industry visitors?
Yes, and that is where a chauffeur pays off most. Delegates and label people often spend the day in meetings and panels, then see four or five showcases at night. An hourly booking can start at the hotel at 10 am, cover meetings in the Financial District and a lunch in King West, pause, and resume for the evening. If artists need moving between a showcase and a media appearance, a Sprinter with one lead contact on the booking keeps everyone on schedule. Our corporate car service handles accounts for labels and agencies, with one invoice. For visiting bands with flights, the travel desk can sort air and hotel, and dispatch schedules the cars around them.
Should you use the TTC, ride-hail or a chauffeur during NXNE?
Each has its place. The TTC is the cheapest way to move a solo fan between Queen West and Bloor, and the Queen and College streetcars run late. Bike Share works well on a dry June night. Ride-hail is fine for one short hop before midnight. A chauffeur makes sense when there are three or more of you, when you plan several venues, when you are carrying gear, when you need to be somewhere for a set time, or when it is 2 am and you do not want to wait on a sidewalk. Groups also find the total sensible once it is split, and the reservation engine shows the fixed figure before you confirm.
What should you know about late nights and safety?
Festival nights run late, and late nights carry ordinary big-city risks: crowded sidewalks, impatient drivers and phones running out of battery. A few habits help. Keep one group phone fully charged and share the chauffeur's details in a group chat. Agree on a fallback meeting point at each venue in case someone loses signal. Hydrate; June nights in packed rooms are hot. Our chauffeurs will not leave until everyone booked is in the car or has told them otherwise, and they will drop each person at their own door if you list the addresses in advance. Licensed vehicles-for-hire in Toronto follow the City's vehicle-for-hire rules.
Can you fly in for NXNE and go straight to a show?
Many out-of-town fans and delegates do. Pearson is about 27 km from downtown; the chauffeur tracks your flight and meets you at the pre-arranged pickup area on the arrivals level, as Pearson describes, with meet and greet inside arrivals available at booking. The UP Express is an honest alternative for a solo traveller with a carry-on, reaching Union Station in about 28 minutes. Billy Bishop is about 3 km from Queen West, which makes it the easiest airport for a festival weekend if your airline flies there. Bags stay in the car while you see the first set.
What mistakes do festival-goers make with transport?
- Planning on bar close. Waiting for a ride at 2 am on Queen West can take longer than the set you just watched.
- Booking one-way rides between clubs. Every short hop means another wait; an hourly car is already there.
- Not sharing the schedule. Send the chauffeur your shortlist of venues, even if you change it.
- Forgetting Pride and other June events. June is busy; our Pride Toronto 2026 road closures post explains how that month's closures affect downtown.
- Assuming the car can stop anywhere. Streetcar lanes mean side-street pickups; watch for the chauffeur's text.
What other June nights are worth planning the same way?
NXNE sits in a busy month. The Toronto Jazz Festival usually runs late June into early July, Luminato brings arts programming, and summer concerts start at the RBC Amphitheatre (formerly Budweiser Stage) at Ontario Place. Each of those nights has the same shape: several stops, an uncertain finish and a crowded exit. If you are building a summer of shows, our RBC Amphitheatre concerts post covers the waterfront exit plan, and the same hourly booking logic applies everywhere.

How do Yorkville and the W Toronto stage change the plan?
Yorkville is quieter and more polished than Queen West, with hotel drives, valet stands and narrower streets that fill quickly on weekend nights. A Yorkville showcase is a natural first or last stop, since many delegates stay in the neighbourhood. From Queen West it is about 4 km and 10 to 20 minutes up Spadina or University Avenue. Our Yorkville hotels page lists stays near the venue with pickup notes. If your evening is mostly Yorkville, a shorter hourly booking may cover it; if it crosses town, budget the full night.
What does the fare include, and how do you book direct?
The reservation engine shows the fixed, all-in fare before you confirm: chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, 407 ETR tolls on the planned route, airport fees where relevant and gratuity, with HST shown separately. No surge on festival nights and no meter. The total changes with the vehicle class, the number of hours and the date. To book, open our reservation engine, choose hourly, set the first pickup and start time, and list the venues and any guest addresses in the notes. Cancellation follows the sitewide policy: free more than 72 hours ahead, 10 % within 72 hours, 50 % within 48 hours and 100 % within 24 hours or for a no-show.
