A Toronto to Buffalo limo with TorontoBlackLimousine.com is a private black car, SUV or Sprinter that drives you about 160 km and 105 to 135 minutes from downtown to Buffalo Niagara International Airport, crossing at the Peace Bridge, Rainbow Bridge or Lewiston-Queenston Bridge. Every passenger needs valid border documents. See the fixed fare at /book/ before you confirm.
What is a cross-border limo from Toronto?
A cross-border limo is a chauffeured car that starts in the Toronto area and takes you into the United States, or collects you in the US and brings you home to Ontario. Our most common trips are the Toronto to Buffalo limo for flights out of Buffalo airport, game days in Orchard Park and Detroit, shopping and dining in western New York, and long runs to Rochester, Syracuse and New York City.
TorontoBlackLimousine.com runs these trips with its own chauffeurs and vehicles. The chauffeur handles the drive and the approach to the border booth; each passenger answers for their own documents and declarations. The fare is fixed before you confirm and covers the chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, bridge tolls, 407 ETR tolls if used, and gratuity, with HST shown separately.
Toronto to Buffalo airport: the trip most people book
Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF) is in Cheektowaga, about 160 km and 105 to 135 minutes from downtown Toronto, and roughly 155 km from Pearson. Many Ontario travellers fly from Buffalo because of route choice or US domestic connections, and a limo to Buffalo airport saves them parking for a week on the far side of the border.
For departures we plan pickup time backwards from your flight: the drive, a buffer for the border queue, and the time your airline asks you to arrive. For arrivals, we track the flight and meet you at the airport's commercial pickup area. See our Buffalo airport (BUF) page and the Toronto to Buffalo airport route for the details, and check the airline and terminal on the Buffalo airport site.
Cross-border destinations, distances and drive times
These are planning figures for driving time, before any wait at the border. The reservation engine quotes the exact fixed fare for your address, date, time and vehicle.

Which border crossing will the chauffeur use?
For Buffalo and Niagara trips there are three bridges within a short drive of each other, and the chauffeur chooses on the day based on wait times and your destination:
- Peace Bridge, between Fort Erie and Buffalo, usually the most direct to downtown Buffalo, the airport and Orchard Park. See the Peace Bridge site.
- Rainbow Bridge, right beside the falls, handy for Niagara Falls, NY.
- Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, often the choice for Rochester, Syracuse and New York City. The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission publishes information on the Rainbow and Lewiston-Queenston bridges.
For Detroit, the options are the Ambassador Bridge and the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel; the Gordie Howe International Bridge, open to traffic since 27 July 2026, is a third option. Eastern trips can use the Thousand Islands Bridge near Gananoque.
Border documents: what every passenger needs
This is the part of a cross-border limo trip that only you can control. Every person in the car, including children, needs acceptable documents for entry to the United States and for returning to Canada:
- Canadian and US citizens: a valid passport, or another document accepted under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, such as a NEXUS card or passport card for eligible citizens. See the US Customs and Border Protection WHTI page.
- Permanent residents and other nationals: a valid passport plus any visa or entry authorization the US requires for your nationality, and your Canadian status documents for the return. The CBP I-94 page explains the US arrival record.
- Children travelling with one parent or a guardian: carry a consent letter from the absent parent; officers on both sides may ask.
Check the Canada Border Services Agency and US Customs and Border Protection sites before every trip, because rules change.
What happens at the border booth?
The chauffeur pulls into the lane, lowers the windows when asked and hands over their own documents. The officer usually asks each passenger for identification and a few simple questions: where you are going, why, for how long, and what you are bringing. Answer for yourself, clearly and truthfully. The chauffeur cannot answer for passengers, and cannot guarantee the length of the stop.
Sometimes an officer sends the vehicle to secondary inspection. That is routine and not a reason to worry; it simply adds time. On the way back into Canada, declare purchases and anything you are carrying; the CBSA declaration page sets out exemptions and limits. Never carry cannabis across the border in either direction, even though it is legal in Ontario.
Border wait times and the best time to cross
Waits vary from a few minutes to well over an hour. Weekends, long weekends, US and Canadian holidays and game days are the busiest. The CBSA publishes border wait times for the Canadian side, and the chauffeur checks both directions before choosing a bridge.
For airport departures we build in a border buffer. For events, we leave early enough that a slow queue does not cost you kickoff. On the way home after a Bills game, expect the busiest hour of the day at the Peace Bridge; a meal in Buffalo or a later departure often means a faster crossing overall.
Can we use the NEXUS lane in a limo?
Only if every person in the vehicle holds a valid NEXUS card, including the chauffeur. If one passenger is not a member, the whole car must use the regular lane. If your entire party holds NEXUS, tell dispatch when you book; NEXUS-holding chauffeurs are available on request, so we assign one and plan the timing around the NEXUS lane.
The CBSA NEXUS page explains how the program works.
Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions game trips
Game-day trips are a favourite for groups from Toronto. The Bills play in Orchard Park, south of Buffalo, about 175 km from downtown Toronto; the Lions play at Ford Field in downtown Detroit, about 385 km away. A Sprinter or a partner party bus turns the drive into part of the day, and the chauffeur handles parking and the exit.
Tailgating, alcohol and stadium rules are set by the teams and by local law, so check them before you go. Our Buffalo Bills games and Detroit Lions games pages cover timing, border planning and vehicle choice, and Sprinter group transportation explains the group vehicles.
Toronto to Detroit limo
The Toronto to Detroit limo runs along the 401 through London and Windsor, about 385 km and four to four and three-quarter hours to Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) or downtown Detroit. Business travellers choose it for the auto industry, trade shows and meetings; families choose it for flights, games and concerts.
Plan a rest stop near London. The crossing from Windsor is by the Ambassador Bridge or the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, and the chauffeur picks the faster option on the day. For the airport, see Detroit airport (DTW) and the Detroit to Toronto page for trips in the other direction.
Toronto to New York limo and other long US trips
A Toronto to New York limo is a full day on the road: about 790 km and eight to nine and a half hours of driving, plus the border and rest stops. It suits families moving a student, groups with luggage, anyone who does not fly, and executives who want to work in a Sprinter the whole way. Rochester, about 260 km, and Syracuse, about 400 km, are shorter versions of the same trip.
For very long runs we plan rest breaks and, for round trips, an overnight for the chauffeur rather than a same-day turnaround. Our city-to-city car service page explains one-way and round-trip options, and the New York City to Toronto page covers the route in detail.
From the USA to Toronto: pickups in Buffalo, Niagara and beyond
The service works in both directions. We collect travellers arriving at Buffalo or Niagara Falls airports, guests finishing a stay in western New York, and families at the end of a US road trip, and drive them home to Toronto, the GTA or Pearson. Flights are tracked, and the chauffeur meets you at the airport's commercial pickup area.
Our cross-border work is trips that begin or end in Ontario. We do not sell rides between two points inside the United States; for those, we can book a local operator through the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network on the same account.
Which vehicle is best for a cross-border trip?
| Vehicle | Seats / bags | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Business sedan | 2 / 2 | Airport runs for one or two travellers |
| SUV | 6 / 4 | Families with suitcases, winter trips |
| Premier luxury SUV | 6 / 4 | Executives and VIP families |
| Executive Sprinter | 7 | Teams, roadshows and game-day groups |
| Sprinter luxury van (12) | 12 / 12 | Larger groups heading to Buffalo or Detroit |
| Party bus (partner operator) | 20 or 30 | Big game-day groups |
Luggage matters on airport runs: two large suitcases per person fill a sedan quickly, so count bags carefully when you book.
Why book an hourly chauffeur for US day trips?
Many cross-border trips are not simple drops. Shopping at the outlets, a day in Niagara Falls, NY, a business meeting in Buffalo followed by dinner, or a game with a pre-game meal all involve waiting. With an hourly chauffeur the car and chauffeur stay with you, your purchases stay locked in the trunk, and the return crossing happens on your schedule.
Hourly bookings carry a 3-hour minimum for sedans, SUVs and Sprinters, and most US day trips run six to ten hours door to door.
Planning checklist before a cross-border limo
- Check every passenger's passport or accepted document is valid for the full trip.
- Carry a consent letter for any child travelling without both parents.
- Keep receipts for purchases, and know your duty-free exemption before you shop.
- Leave cannabis and anything you are unsure about at home.
- Add a border buffer to any flight or kickoff time.
- Book flights and hotels through our travel desk if you want everything on one plan.
