Black sedan service in Toronto at TorontoBlackLimousine.com means one of three chauffeur-driven classes from our own fleet: a business sedan (Cadillac, Lincoln or Mercedes-Benz E-Class or equivalent), an electric Tesla Model Y, or a first-class sedan (Mercedes-Benz S-Class or equivalent). Each takes two passengers and two bags. Book one way or by the hour at /book/ and see the fixed fare first.
What is black sedan service in Toronto?
Black sedan service is the quiet core of chauffeured transport: an unbranded black car, a professional chauffeur, a fixed fare agreed before the trip and no meter running. It is what most of our clients book most of the time, from a 5 a.m. run to Pearson to a day of meetings between King Street towers.
All three sedan classes are our own vehicles, dispatched by our own desk in Toronto. You choose the class in the reservation engine, and the fare shown there already includes the chauffeur, fuel, airport fees, tolls on the planned route and gratuity, with HST shown separately. The sedan is also the most flexible car we run: it slips into tight hotel driveways in Yorkville, parks easily outside a clinic in North York and fits the narrow lanes around the Distillery District. For every other class, see our Toronto fleet; this page is only about sedans.
Can I still book a town car for rent in Toronto?
You can book what a town car always meant: a black, chauffeur-driven sedan for business and airport travel. The car that gave the service its name, the Lincoln Town Car, went out of production years ago, and limousine operators across North America replaced it with modern black business sedans. "Town car service" survives as a name for the style of service rather than a specific model.
So when you search for a "town car for rent", the modern equivalent is our business sedan class: a Cadillac, Lincoln or Mercedes-Benz E-Class or equivalent, black, with a uniformed professional chauffeur. Two passengers, two checked bags, quiet cabin, door-to-door. It is booked with the chauffeur, never as a self-drive rental. Our black car service page covers the wider service around it.
Which black sedan classes can I book?
Three, all with the same capacity and the same three-hour hourly minimum. The difference is the car and the cabin.
| Sedan class | Typical vehicle | Passengers / bags | Hourly minimum | Choose it for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business sedan | Cadillac, Lincoln or Mercedes-Benz E-Class or equivalent | 2 / 2 | 3 h | Airport runs, meetings, everyday black car work |
| Tesla Model Y (electric) | Tesla Model Y, black | 2 / 2 | 3 h | Zero-tailpipe travel, company emissions policies |
| First-class sedan | Mercedes-Benz S-Class or equivalent | 2 / 2 | 3 h | Executives, VIPs, long days in the rear seat |
In the reservation engine they appear as business sedan, Tesla Model Y and first-class sedan. As with every class, the booking secures the class; if a particular model matters, add it to the notes and dispatch will confirm what it can.
Is this a self-drive sedan rental?
No. TorontoBlackLimousine.com does not rent cars to drive yourself, and no booking on this site comes with keys. Every sedan travels with a licensed professional chauffeur, which is the whole point of a black sedan service: you work, rest or talk on the phone while someone else deals with the Gardiner, the parking and the timing.
That also simplifies business travel. There is no fuel to top up before returning a car, no parking receipts to claim, no insurance excess to worry about, and one fixed fare on one receipt. Vehicle-for-hire operation in the city is licensed by the City of Toronto, as its vehicle-for-hire licensing page explains. If what you actually need is a car for a self-drive weekend, a rental-car counter is the right place; for a car and a chauffeur, book here.
Business sedan, Tesla or first-class sedan: which should I choose?
All three move two people comfortably; the choice depends on the passenger and the day.
| Question | Business sedan | Tesla Model Y | First-class sedan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rear-seat space | Comfortable | Comfortable | Most generous |
| Cabin noise | Quiet | Very quiet (electric) | Quietest for long days |
| Best trip length | Any | GTA trips and airport runs | Long days, long drives |
| Image | Discreet, professional | Modern, low-emission | Executive, first impression |
| Long intercity runs | Yes | Dispatch may suggest a sedan | Yes |
Most airport transfers and meeting days are perfectly served by the business sedan. The Tesla suits travellers and companies that track the emissions of their ground transport, and dispatch plans charging so you never have to think about it. Book the first-class sedan when the passenger will spend hours in the rear seat or arrives where impressions count: a board meeting, a private terminal or a speaking engagement.
How many passengers and bags fit in a black sedan?
Two passengers and two full-size checked suitcases, plus small carry-ons such as a laptop bag or a handbag. That is the honest working capacity, not the maximum someone could squeeze in. A third passenger can technically sit in the middle of the rear seat, but with luggage it becomes uncomfortable and the trunk will not take three large cases.
Our advice from the dispatch desk is simple. Two travellers, two bags: sedan. Three passengers, or more than two large cases, or golf clubs, skis, a stroller or a large instrument: move to the premier luxury SUV or the SUV class. A family of four with luggage is always happier in an SUV. Getting this right at booking avoids the one problem a chauffeur cannot solve on the curb. And if the occasion is a wedding or a big night out for a crowd, look at a stretch limousine or a party bus from our partner fleet instead.

How does a black sedan pickup at Toronto Pearson work?
Toronto Pearson (YYZ) has two passenger terminals, and the airline decides which one you use. Per Toronto Pearson's airline list, checked 4 October 2026, Air Canada flies from Terminal 1, while WestJet and Porter Airlines fly from Terminal 3; check your booking, because airlines can move. Give us the flight number and we track it, with included waiting from actual landing of 30 minutes on Canadian domestic and US flights and 60 minutes on other international arrivals.
The airport's pre-arranged services page explains that booked cars meet passengers in a designated area on the arrivals level, where you tell the dispatcher you are waiting for your ride. When we checked, that was Door A at Terminal 1 and Door A at Terminal 3. Curbside pickup there is included; meet and greet inside arrivals is an add-on at booking. Our Pearson terminal pickup guide walks through it step by step.
Is a sedan the right car for Billy Bishop airport?
For most travellers, yes. Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) is the island airport off the downtown waterfront, about 3 to 5 km and 10 to 20 minutes from the Financial District. Cars do not drive onto the island: they pick up and drop off at the mainland pavilion on Eireann Quay, and passengers cross by the pedestrian tunnel or the short ferry, as the airport explains on its pick-up and drop-off page.
A business sedan suits the typical Billy Bishop traveller perfectly: one or two people, carry-on or one checked bag, and a meeting downtown. Airlines and routes at the island airport change, so check the airport site for your flight. Our Billy Bishop transfer page covers the quay, the tunnel and timing, including the run between Billy Bishop and Pearson for connecting travellers.
How far and how long are typical sedan trips from downtown Toronto and Pearson?
Planning figures for common black sedan trips. Downtown means the Union Station area; times are typical and change with rush hour, weather and events.
| Trip | From downtown Toronto | From Toronto Pearson (YYZ) |
|---|---|---|
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) | 27 km, 25-45 min | - |
| Billy Bishop (YTZ), Eireann Quay | 3-5 km, 10-20 min | about 30 km, 30-50 min |
| Yorkville and Midtown | 5 km, 10-20 min | about 25 km, 25-40 min |
| North York | 15 km, 20-35 min | about 20 km, 20-30 min |
| Mississauga | 30 km, 30-45 min | about 15 km, 15-25 min |
| Markham | 35 km, 30-45 min | about 40 km, 30-45 min |
| Hamilton | 68 km, 50-75 min | about 60 km, 40-60 min |
| Kitchener-Waterloo | 110 km, 75-95 min | about 95 km, 60-80 min |
The reservation engine works out the exact fixed fare for your address, date, time and class; these are planning figures only. Our downtown Toronto to Pearson black car page explains the Gardiner, 427 and 401 options for the airport run.
How do companies use black sedans by the hour?
The sedan is the workhorse of corporate travel in Toronto. A visiting executive lands at Pearson, goes straight to a meeting on Bay Street, crosses to a client in Vaughan, has lunch in Yorkville and catches an evening flight. As one-way trips that is five bookings and four waits on the curb; kept with an hourly chauffeur in Toronto, it is one car that is always outside.
The hourly minimum is three hours, with extra time in 30-minute blocks. The chauffeur stays with the car, keeps the luggage locked inside, and adjusts as meetings run long. Companies that move people every week often set up an account so bookings, approvals and receipts run through one place; our corporate car service page explains how that works for assistants and travel managers.
Is a black sedan good for dinners, the theatre and game nights?
Yes, especially for two. A sedan drops you at the restaurant door on King West or in Yorkville and waits for you, or comes back at a set time. For a show, a concert at Scotiabank Arena or a Blue Jays game at the Rogers Centre, the chauffeur plans the pickup point around road closures, which on big nights matter more than distance.
If the evening has more than one stop, or the finish time is uncertain, keep the car by the hour rather than booking two one-way trips; the chauffeur stages nearby and comes round when you message. Alcohol is not allowed on board our vehicles, so enjoy the drinks at dinner and let the chauffeur handle the drive home. For anniversaries and proposals, the first-class sedan adds a sense of occasion without the size of a limousine.
Can a black sedan meet trains at Union Station?
Yes. Union Station is the hub for VIA Rail, GO Transit and the UP Express, and a sedan is the natural car for a traveller arriving on a train from Montreal, Ottawa or Windsor and heading to a hotel, a meeting or home. We track the train where the operator publishes its status, and the chauffeur meets you at an agreed point outside the station.
Travellers sometimes ask whether to take the UP Express to Pearson instead. The UP Express runs between Union and Terminal 1 in about 28 minutes and is often the simplest choice for a solo traveller with a carry-on who is already at Union. A sedan wins door to door, for Terminal 3, for early mornings and late nights, and when there is real luggage. Our Union Station page covers the station in detail.

How does the Tesla Model Y fit into a black car booking?
The Tesla is booked exactly like the business sedan, with the same two passengers, two bags and three-hour hourly minimum. The cabin is very quiet, which travellers notice most in stop-and-go traffic on the 401 or the DVP, and there are no tailpipe emissions from the car while it drives.
Charging is dispatch's job. The Tesla is assigned to trips where the range and the schedule fit comfortably, which covers airport runs, downtown and GTA hourly bookings and most local work. For a long intercity day with no break for charging, dispatch may suggest a business sedan instead and tell you why. Companies with sustainability reporting often ask for the electric class by default; add that preference to your account or the booking notes.
Is a black sedan suitable for medical appointments and older passengers?
Very much so. A sedan is easy to step into, quiet, and small enough to stop close to a hospital or clinic entrance. Many families book a chauffeur by the hour for a parent's appointment so the car waits during the visit and there is no anxious wait on a curb afterwards. The chauffeur can help with a walker or a folding wheelchair, which folds into the trunk.
For passengers who need to stay seated in a wheelchair or scooter, we have a wheelchair-accessible vehicle available when booked in advance; tell us at booking. Pets need prior written approval, and service animals are welcome but should be mentioned. Our medical appointments page has more on regular appointment rides.
How do I book a black sedan in the reservation engine?
Booking direct takes a couple of minutes, with no app and no middleman.
- Open /book/ or tap the floating Book now button.
- Choose one way or hourly, then enter the pickup, destination and time, or the flight or train for a station or airport pickup.
- Pick the class: business sedan, Tesla Model Y or first-class sedan.
- Add notes: passengers, bags, child seat, meet and greet, stops, preferred model.
- Review the fixed, all-in fare and confirm.
If the trip is part of a bigger journey, the travel desk can add flights and hotels to the same file.
What changes a black sedan fare, and what does it include?
We do not print fares on this site; the reservation engine shows the exact one for your trip before you confirm. What moves it is predictable: the class you pick, the kilometres and realistic drive time at that hour, the date, waiting beyond the included allowance, extra stops, and, for hourly bookings, the hours beyond the three-hour minimum.
The fixed fare includes the chauffeur, the car, fuel, airport fees, tolls on the planned route and gratuity, with HST shown separately. There is no surge pricing and no meter. Child seats and meet and greet are available at booking. For the full explanation, see how our fares work.
When should I move up from a sedan to an SUV or Sprinter?
As soon as people or luggage outgrow two and two. Three passengers, a family with car seats, more than two large cases, skis or golf clubs: choose an SUV, or the premier luxury SUV for a VIP arrival. Seven or more people, or a team that should travel together: a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.
Winter is another reason. Our cars run winter tires from November to April and the sedans handle city snow well, but for a drive up the 400 to Barrie or Blue Mountain in a storm, many clients prefer the height and traction of an SUV. If you are unsure, book the class you think fits and write a note; dispatch will tell you before the trip if another class would serve you better.
