Signature Aviation Toronto is a business aviation FBO at Toronto Pearson, listed by Signature at 2450 Derry Road East and open 24 hours a day with on-site customs and immigration. A chauffeured pickup is timed to the aircraft's block-in, not an airline schedule. Downtown Toronto is about 32 km and 30 to 50 minutes away; we wait at the FBO's landside entrance.
Most travellers never see this side of Pearson. Private aircraft park at fixed-base operators on the edge of the field, and passengers walk from the aircraft through the FBO and straight to a waiting car. Our Pearson FBO chauffeur service covers the general picture for every handler at the airport. This post goes deeper on one of them: how a pickup at the Signature facility actually runs, what an assistant should send, and the mistakes that put a car at the wrong door.
Signature Aviation Toronto: what is it, and where exactly is it?
Signature's YYZ page, checked on 2 October 2026, lists its Toronto FBO at 2450 Derry Road East, Mississauga, on the north side of the airport, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It lists on-site customs and immigration, private conference rooms, de-icing and a heated hangar available in winter. We are not affiliated with Signature or any FBO; we are the ground car that meets your aircraft there.
The most important practical point is the address. Derry Road East is nowhere near the airline departures roads that lead to Terminals 1 and 3. A car sent to the terminal curb by mistake is a 10 to 15 minute drive away from the FBO, which is exactly the delay a private flight exists to avoid.
What should I send dispatch to book a Signature pickup?
Five details make the booking work:
- The FBO name, written as your crew or charter broker confirmed it.
- The tail number of the aircraft, so dispatch can follow the flight.
- The estimated time of arrival or departure, in local Toronto time.
- Passengers and bags, including golf bags, garment bags or equipment cases.
- Where you are going next, and whether you want the car by the hour.
Add any extras in the notes: a name board, a child seat, a request to meet the aircraft where the FBO permits, or a pet. Pets travel only with prior approval, so ask at booking and wait for written confirmation.
What happens on the day of an inbound international arrival?
A typical example: a light jet from Teterboro, New Jersey, due to block in at 3:40 p.m. on a Thursday.
- Morning. Dispatch confirms the chauffeur and sends you the name and phone number.
- Wheels-up. Tracking picks up the flight; if it leaves late, the car is re-timed at no charge.
- 3:10 p.m. The chauffeur arrives at Derry Road East and parks at the landside entrance.
- 3:40 p.m. The aircraft blocks in. Passengers clear the Canada Border Services Agency inside the FBO.
- About 4:00 p.m. Bags are brought to the car, the chauffeur loads them, and you leave.
- 4:45 p.m. You arrive at a Financial District hotel, about 32 km away, in weekday traffic.
The CBSA's general aviation page explains the pilot's advance telephone report before arrival. Our included waiting for an arrival from the United States is 30 minutes from actual landing, and 60 minutes for flights from anywhere else.
Where does the chauffeur wait at Signature?
At the FBO's landside entrance or in its lobby, holding a name board if you asked for one. Driving onto the ramp to meet the aircraft is not our decision: it happens only where the FBO permits it and on its conditions, usually with an escort. If planeside meeting matters, for a VIP, a medical passenger or someone with limited mobility, say so at booking so dispatch can ask in advance. In practice the walk from aircraft to door is short, and line staff usually bring bags to the car.

How long does the drive take from Derry Road East?
Planning figures from the FBO side of Pearson; rush hour on the 401 and the 427 is the biggest variable:
| From the Signature FBO area to | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Union Station and the Financial District | about 32 km | 30 to 50 min |
| Yorkville and Midtown | about 30 km | 30 to 50 min |
| Pearson Terminal 1 or 3 | 6 to 8 km | 10 to 15 min |
| Airport Corporate Centre hotels | about 8 km | 10 to 15 min |
| Vaughan, Highway 7 and 400 | about 25 km | 20 to 35 min |
| Markham via the 407 | about 42 km | 30 to 45 min |
| Oakville | about 35 km | 25 to 40 min |
| Niagara Falls | about 125 km | 85 to 110 min |
We check Ontario 511 before every leg. The 407 ETR sometimes beats the 401 to Markham or Oakville; the toll is included in the fixed fare.
How should a departure from Signature be timed?
Private passengers skip airline security queues, but the crew still needs time to load and brief, and Toronto traffic is the real risk. For a 5 p.m. wheels-up on a weekday, we usually suggest leaving the Financial District around 3:45 p.m. On a Sunday morning, 45 minutes before departure can be enough. In snow, add more. Give dispatch the planned departure time and the FBO; we propose a pickup time and send the chauffeur's details the evening before.
If the crew changes the slot, one message moves the car. If the principal is running late from a meeting, the chauffeur can call the FBO for you so the crew knows.
What mistakes put the car at the wrong door?
The common ones are avoidable:
- Giving an airline-style flight number. Private flights are tracked by tail number.
- Writing "Pearson" with no FBO. The car then has to guess, and Pearson has more than one business aviation facility; see our post on Skyservice arrivals at Pearson.
- Booking the pickup for departure time from the origin, not arrival time in Toronto, across a time zone.
- Forgetting the luggage count. Two passengers with golf bags and four suitcases need an SUV.
- Not mentioning a second leg. Crew cars and onward trips can sit on the same file.
Which vehicle suits a Signature arrival?
Match the car to the load as well as the head count. A first-class sedan suits one or two executives with carry-ons. A premier luxury SUV carries up to six with real luggage and handles winter roads well. An executive Sprinter takes a team of up to seven with cases and doubles as a meeting room. For a full cabin with heavy bags, we can send a second vehicle for luggage. If a passenger uses a wheelchair, we have a wheelchair-accessible vehicle; book it in advance and tell us about the chair or scooter.
When should the car stay by the hour?
When the visit is a day trip. A principal who lands at 8 a.m., visits a plant in Vaughan, lunches in Yorkville and flies home at 6 p.m. needs one car all day, not four transfers. An hourly private chauffeur waits outside each stop from a 3-hour minimum, with extra time in 30-minute blocks, keeps bags locked in the trunk, and returns to Derry Road East for the outbound leg. For investor days, our roadshow and investor meetings page shows how a car shadows a tight schedule.
Can the crew use the same booking?
Yes. Pilots and cabin crew often need a quick ride to a hotel near the airport after a late arrival and a reliable pickup before the next duty. Put the crew car on the same file with its own pickup time and drop. Our Airport Corporate Centre hotels page covers the district closest to the field, about 10 to 15 minutes away.
How is a Signature pickup different from a terminal pickup?
At Terminals 1 and 3, pre-arranged cars meet passengers at a designated area on the arrivals curb, and travellers first walk through baggage halls and customs with everyone else. At an FBO the flow is shorter: aircraft to lobby to car, often in 15 to 20 minutes on a domestic arrival. The chauffeur parks steps from the door rather than circling a busy curb. The trade-off is that the car must be at the right facility, which is why the FBO name matters more than anything else on the booking.
What about families and children on a private arrival?
Families often fly privately for the luggage allowance and the short walk. Child seats, infant, convertible and booster, are available at booking; give us the ages so the right seat is installed before the chauffeur leaves. Strollers, ski bags and cottage gear fit best in an SUV or Sprinter. Tell us about a sleeping child, and the chauffeur will have the cabin warm and the doors ready.
What about privacy and security details?
People fly privately for discretion. Our chauffeurs do not post photos, name passengers or discuss who they drove, and our cars are unbranded. A name board can carry an alias. If a security detail is involved, put the lead's contact in the notes so the chauffeur coordinates directly. For diplomatic arrivals with motorcade timing, our diplomatic and VIP protocol page explains how we work with advance teams.
How does winter change a Signature pickup?
Winter adds de-icing, which can hold departures, and freezing rain on the 427, which slows everything. Arrivals take care of themselves through tracking. On departures we add buffer and keep the car warm at the FBO door until the crew calls you forward. We watch Environment Canada forecasts when setting pickup times, and our cars run winter tires from November to April.
What is included, and what is the cancellation rule?
The reservation engine shows the fixed, all-in fare before you confirm: chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, 407 ETR tolls on the planned route, airport fees and gratuity, with HST shown separately. No meter, no surge. Our vehicles are alcohol-free, with no drinking on board. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup, 10 % at 72 hours or less, 50 % at 48 hours or less, and 100 % at 24 hours or less or for a no-show. A delayed aircraft is not a cancellation; tracking moves the car.
Where does the rest of the trip fit?
If the trip continues by air or needs hotels, our travel desk handles flights and rooms, and our network places chauffeurs in more than 70 countries and 500 cities on the same account.
