A London Ontario to Pearson car service covers about 170 km on Highway 401 and usually takes 110 to 135 minutes door to terminal. TorontoBlackLimousine.com sends a sedan, SUV or Sprinter to your London address, drives the 401 east through Woodstock, Cambridge and Milton, tracks your flight on the way home and shows the fixed fare before you book. Leave about 4.5 hours before a domestic departure.
How does a London Ontario to Pearson car service work?
You book one private car and one professional chauffeur for the whole trip, with nobody else aboard and no stop at other houses. Our London to Pearson airport limo page covers what the booking includes and the city end in detail. This post takes the road itself apart: where the two hours go on the 401, what time to leave for a real flight, and how students, retirees heading south and business visitors each use the run. The short version is that the first hour, from London to Cambridge, is open country and predictable. The last 40 km, from Milton to the terminal loop, decides whether you arrive relaxed or watching the clock.
What does the 401 look like between London and Pearson, stretch by stretch?
| Stretch | Approximate distance | Typical time | What can slow it |
|---|---|---|---|
| London (Wellington Road or Highway 100 area) to Woodstock | about 45 km | 25–30 min | Lake Huron snow squalls in winter; heavy truck traffic |
| Woodstock to Cambridge | about 45 km | 25–30 min | Construction zones; summer weekend volume |
| Cambridge to Milton | about 40 km | 25–35 min | The Niagara Escarpment grade near Milton; fog and freezing rain |
| Milton to the Pearson terminals (401 or 407, then the 427, 409 or 410) | about 40 km | 25–50 min | Weekday rush from about 6:30 a.m. and again in the afternoon |
Planning figures from central London; the reservation engine quotes the exact fixed fare for your address, date, time and vehicle. Notice the spread in the last row. Everything west of Milton is fairly steady, so the chauffeur's real work is choosing between the 401 and the 407 corridor near Mississauga, using live traffic from Ontario 511, and picking the right exit for Terminal 1 or Terminal 3.
Where does the time actually go on a weekday?
On a weekday morning the car usually covers London to Milton in about 75 to 85 minutes, then meets the commuter flow heading into Mississauga and Toronto. Between roughly 6:30 and 9:30 a.m., the stretch from Milton to the airport can take twice as long as it does at 5 a.m. In the afternoon the eastbound traffic thins out earlier, but the 401 near the airport stays busy with outbound commuters from about 3 to 7 p.m. Friday afternoons in summer add cottage and long-weekend traffic. Late evenings and early mornings are the easy hours, which is why so many London travellers book first-wave departures and late-night arrivals: the drive is close to the 110-minute figure at both ends of the day.
What time should the car leave London for your flight?
Work back from the time you want to be at the Pearson curb, which for most airlines is about two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before a US or international flight; check your airline's own advice. Then add the drive and a margin. Three real examples:
- 7:00 a.m. domestic flight to Calgary: pickup around 2:30 a.m., with an empty 401 and time to spare.
- 11:30 a.m. flight to a winter sun destination: pickup around 6:00 a.m., which absorbs the Milton-to-Mississauga rush.
- 6:00 p.m. overnight flight to Europe: pickup around 12:30 p.m., a midday run with the airport reached in the early afternoon.
Our post on how early to arrive at Pearson explains the airline advice behind those numbers. When you enter the flight in the booking, dispatch suggests a pickup time and adjusts it for winter or holiday traffic.
What should a Western or Fanshawe student know about the airport run?
Students are some of our most frequent London passengers, usually in late August and early September, then again at the December break and in late April. International students landing at Pearson for the first time often do not know which terminal they are in or where booked cars wait. The chauffeur waits at the commercial pre-arranged pickup area on the arrivals curb; meet and greet inside arrivals with a name board is an optional add-on at booking, and many parents choose it for a first arrival. Our Pearson international arrivals pickup plan walks through customs and baggage. One practical tip: a year's worth of luggage rarely fits a sedan. Two students with four large cases need the SUV, and a family moving a student in is better in a Sprinter.

How do London snowbirds handle a winter flight south?
January and February are when London's retirees head for Florida, Arizona and the Caribbean, and they are also the months when the 401 between London and Woodstock sees its worst squalls. Three habits help. Book an SUV for its weight and ground clearance, even for two travellers. Accept an earlier pickup when dispatch suggests one; a 30-minute buffer is cheap insurance against a closed lane. And think twice before leaving a car at the airport for six or eight weeks. Our comparison of Pearson parking versus a car service sets out the trade-offs without prices. On the way home, the flight is tracked, so a delay in Fort Lauderdale or Phoenix does not leave anyone stranded at the curb.
How does a business visitor use an hourly chauffeur in London?
A common pattern: a consultant flies into Pearson on an early flight, needs to see a hospital department, a university office and a manufacturer in London, and flies out the same evening. An hourly chauffeur solves it with one car for the whole day. The chauffeur meets the flight, drives the 401 while the visitor works, waits outside each meeting and takes the bags back to Pearson for the evening departure. Hourly bookings have a three-hour minimum for sedans, SUVs, vans and Sprinters, with extra time in 30-minute blocks, and the car stays with you between stops. For visits that need a hotel night in London, Tourism London lists the city's hotels and events, and our travel desk can book the room and flights on the same file as the car.
Is VIA Rail plus the UP Express a real alternative?
For some people, yes. VIA Rail runs between London and Union Station, and from Union the UP Express reaches Pearson Terminal 1 in about 28 minutes, with stops at Bloor, Mount Dennis and Weston. A solo traveller with a carry-on, a flexible schedule and a midday flight from Terminal 1 can do it comfortably. It works less well for very early flights, for Terminal 3 (which means an extra transfer from Terminal 1 on the airport's train), for families, and for anyone with large bags, because there are two changes and a walk through Union Station. Check both timetables on the day before you rely on them. When the connections line up, the train is a sensible choice; when they do not, the car takes you door to curb in one step.
When is London's own airport the better choice?
London International Airport is about 10 km from downtown, so when it has a direct flight to where you are going, at a time that suits you, it is hard to beat. The catch is choice. Its routes are limited and seasonal, while Pearson offers far more destinations, airlines and departure times. Many London travellers price both, then choose Pearson for long-haul trips and for flights that would otherwise need a connection. We drive to both, and to Detroit for some US trips. Our London airport (YXU) page covers local pickups, and the Toronto to London route covers the trip in the other direction for visitors coming to the city.
What mistakes do London travellers make on the Pearson run?
- Booking the wrong terminal. Pearson has Terminal 1 and Terminal 3; the airline confirmation says which. Put it in the booking.
- Leaving at 3:30 p.m. on a Friday for an evening flight without extra margin.
- Undersizing the car. Two business sedans' worth of luggage will not fit one sedan.
- Forgetting the passports for a US flight, or assuming a winter coat can go in the overhead bin with everything else.
- Not answering the dispatcher's weather call. If a squall warning is posted, the pickup may move earlier; keep your phone on the night before.
- Driving yourself home after a long-haul flight. Two hours on the 401 at midnight after fourteen in the air is when people make mistakes.
How does the trip home from Pearson work after a long flight?
The chauffeur follows your flight and times arrival at the airport to the actual landing, not the schedule. Included waiting starts from landing: 30 minutes for Canadian domestic and US flights and 60 minutes for other international arrivals, which covers most customs and baggage queues. After that, waiting is charged in 15-minute blocks and dispatch tells you before it starts. The fare includes curbside pickup at the commercial pre-arranged pickup area on the arrivals level. Once on the road, most passengers are asleep before Milton; the car simply delivers them to the door in London with the bags. For late arrivals, the empty highway often brings the drive in at the low end of the range.

Which vehicle suits the London to Pearson run?
For one or two travellers with ordinary bags, the business sedan is comfortable for two hours. The first-class sedan, the Mercedes S-Class class, suits executives who want to work in quiet. Families of up to six take the SUV, which also carries four large bags. Sports teams, wedding parties and groups with golf bags or ski gear move up to the executive Sprinter for seven or the 12-seat Sprinter luxury van. Child seats (infant, convertible and booster) are available at booking; list the children's ages so the right seats are fitted before the car leaves.
What does the fare include, and what changes it?
This site publishes no prices. The reservation engine shows the fixed fare for your exact trip before you confirm: chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, Pearson airport fees and gratuity, with HST shown separately. There is no meter, so a slow hour near Mississauga does not change the number. What does change it is the vehicle class, your exact address (Byron and Hyde Park are not the same distance from the 401), the date and time, extra stops such as collecting a second traveller in St. Thomas or Strathroy, and waiting beyond the included allowance. Cancelling more than 72 hours before pickup costs nothing; at 72 hours or less it is 10 %, at 48 hours or less 50 %, and at 24 hours or less or a no-show 100 %.
What should you send dispatch before the day?
A short checklist saves a phone call later:
- The flight number, airline and terminal.
- The exact London address, plus any gate code, lane or building entrance.
- The number of passengers and children's ages for seats.
- The number and size of bags, including golf clubs, skis or a stroller.
- A mobile number that will be on during the trip.
- Any mobility needs; we fold and stow walkers and wheelchairs for passengers who can transfer to a seat.
