A car service to Oshawa airport covers about 60 km and 45–60 minutes from downtown Toronto, or 75 km and 50–75 minutes from Pearson. Oshawa Executive Airport (YOO) has no scheduled passenger flights; it serves charters, corporate aircraft, flight training and scenic flights. TorontoBlackLimousine.com meets your aircraft time, waits as booked and shows a fixed fare before you confirm.
Searches for a car service to Oshawa airport come from four very different people: a charter organiser moving a group, a family dropping a son or daughter at flight school, someone with a scenic-flight gift voucher, and a pilot who keeps an aircraft in a Durham hangar. Our Oshawa Executive Airport black car page sets out the airport, the route and the pickup rules. This post takes each of those four trips in turn, with the timing and the mistakes we see from the dispatch desk.
Who needs a car service to Oshawa airport if there are no airline flights?
The City of Oshawa's airport page is explicit: there are no scheduled passenger flights and no plans for them. What the airport does have is corporate business travel and general aviation, including flight training, air ambulance, passenger charter, freight and aircraft maintenance, with a full-service operator open around the clock.
So nobody flies from Oshawa to Vancouver on a ticket. But plenty of people fly in on a chartered aircraft for a Toronto meeting, start a commercial pilot course, take a sightseeing flight over the lake, or fly their own plane out for a weekend. Each of them needs to get to a field on the north side of Oshawa, and most of them start in Toronto or at Pearson.
How far is YOO from downtown Toronto, Pearson and the east end?
Planning figures, outside rush hour:
| Trip | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Downtown Toronto (Union Station area) to YOO | about 60 km | 45–60 min |
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to YOO | about 75 km | 50–75 min |
| Billy Bishop (YTZ) to YOO | about 62 km | 50–65 min |
| Markham to YOO | about 40 km | 30–45 min |
| Downtown Oshawa to YOO | about 5 km | 8–12 min |
The trip planner measures your exact address, and the reservation engine quotes the fixed fare for your address, date, time and vehicle.
How do you plan a charter group's transfer to Oshawa?
Charter groups are the bookings where detail matters most, because an aircraft waits for nobody and nobody wants to pay for an aircraft waiting for a car. A typical example: a corporate team of ten flying from YOO to a fishing lodge, leaving Bay Street at 7 a.m.
- Get the operator's timings. Ask the charter company when passengers must be at the building and where they check in.
- Choose one vehicle. Ten people with duffels fit in a Sprinter luxury van, which seats twelve. One vehicle keeps the group together.
- Allow for the 401 eastbound. Morning traffic heads into Toronto, not out, so eastbound is usually kind; still allow 60 minutes from downtown.
- Share the operator's name and the tail number in the booking notes so dispatch can confirm the meeting point.
- Book the return now. Give the expected return time; if the aircraft is early or late, the operator or your organiser messages dispatch.
Groups bigger than a Sprinter can use a coach through the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network, priced in writing by a coordinator.
What about families dropping off or visiting a flight student?
Flight training is one of the airport's main activities, and the City's page names Canadian Flight Academy and Durham Flight Centre among the businesses offering flights. Students come from across Canada and abroad, and their first trip to YOO often starts at Pearson with two large suitcases after an international flight.
For that arrival we track the flight, wait 60 minutes from actual landing on an international arrival (30 minutes on domestic and US flights), and drive about 75 km to the student's accommodation in Oshawa or Whitby. Many families add meet & greet, an optional add-on at booking, so a chauffeur with a name board meets a nervous 19-year-old in the arrivals area. Our post on the Pearson international arrivals pickup plan explains the terminal side.
Visiting parents later in the course often book an hourly chauffeur for the day: the airfield to see a lesson, lunch in Whitby, a stop at a store for supplies, and back to a hotel.

Can a car take us to a scenic or sightseeing flight at YOO?
Yes, and these make lovely gifts: a flight over the lakeshore for a birthday, an anniversary or a proposal. The trip to the airfield becomes part of the occasion. A first-class sedan collects the couple downtown, the chauffeur waits during the flight on an hourly booking, and dinner afterwards is in Whitby or back in Toronto. Our date night and proposals page has ideas for building the evening around it.
Weather decides scenic flights. If the operator postpones because of wind or low cloud, message dispatch and the car moves with it; changing a pickup time is not a cancellation.
How do owner-pilots use a car service at Oshawa?
Pilots who keep aircraft in Oshawa's hangars usually drive themselves. They book a car when the trip involves passengers, a long day or an onward airline flight. A common pattern: the pilot flies a family to a cottage-country strip, returns to YOO on Sunday evening, and the car takes everyone home to Toronto so nobody drives after a long day. Another: a pilot flies in from elsewhere, lands at YOO, and continues to Pearson for an airline flight, about 75 km and 50 to 75 minutes, where the 407 ETR is often steadier than the 401 at rush hour.
Where does the chauffeur meet you at a general-aviation airport?
At a field without an airline terminal, the meeting point is the building of the operator or school you are using, or the airport's public entrance. Where the operator permits, the car can come closer to the aircraft; that is always their decision. We do not publish ramp instructions we have not confirmed. Tell us the operator's name, the tail number or charter reference and the estimated time, and dispatch confirms the exact spot before the day. The chauffeur texts the car's colour and plate as you land.
What should a flight student bring, and does it fit?
More than people expect. A student moving in for a long course brings clothes for every season, a laptop, a headset, books and often a bicycle. A business sedan takes two passengers and two large cases. A student with three cases and a parent is an SUV trip, with room for six passengers and four large bags. Tell us about oversized items such as a bicycle in the notes, and dispatch will say whether it fits inside the vehicle or is better shipped separately.
Can I take GO Transit to Oshawa airport instead?
Partly. GO Transit's Lakeshore East line runs from Union Station to Oshawa GO in the south of the city; check GO Transit for current times. The airport is on the north side of Oshawa, so you still need a local bus or a taxi for the last stretch. A student with a backpack and time to spare can do it cheaply. A charter passenger with an aircraft waiting, or a family with suitcases, is better served by a door-to-door car.
How do rush hour and the weather affect the drive?
The 401 through Scarborough, Pickering and Ajax is one of the busiest stretches of highway in the province. Westbound into Toronto is slow on weekday mornings; eastbound out of Toronto is slow on weekday afternoons from about 3 p.m. Plan charter departures from downtown in the morning and returns in the evening after 7 p.m. where you can.
In winter, lake-effect snow can hit Durham hard and briefly. Our cars run winter tires from November to April, and chauffeurs check Ontario 511 and the Environment Canada forecast before leaving. If weather grounds the aircraft, the operator usually knows first; ask them to tell dispatch as well.
What mistakes do people make when booking a car to YOO?
- Searching for an airline terminal. There is none; give us the operator or school instead.
- Booking the aircraft time as the pickup time. Work back from the operator's check-in time, then add the drive.
- Forgetting the return leg. Charters and scenic flights come back too, and a booked car is waiting when they do.
- Leaving the operator out of the loop. If the aircraft is delayed, the operator often knows first; ask them to message dispatch.
- Under-sizing the vehicle. Charter duffels, golf bags and flight-school luggage need more room than a sedan.
Which option fits each kind of YOO trip?
| Trip | Usual vehicle | One way or hourly? | Key detail to give us |
|---|---|---|---|
| Charter group, 6–12 people | Sprinter luxury van | One way each direction | Operator, check-in time, tail number |
| Executive on a private flight | First-class sedan | Hourly for a day of meetings | Tail number and estimated arrival |
| Flight student moving in | SUV | One way from Pearson | International flight number, bags |
| Scenic-flight gift for two | First-class sedan | Hourly, car waits | Operator and booked flight time |
| Owner-pilot with family | SUV | One way home | Expected landing time |
Is there anything to see at the airport while waiting?
There is. The Ontario Regiment's regimental museum operates in original 1940s buildings on the airport's South Field, according to the City of Oshawa, with tank programs on some Saturdays. Families visiting a student, or waiting for a scenic flight, sometimes combine the two. Check the City's airport page or the museum before you go, as programs are seasonal.
What does the fare include, and how do I book?
The reservation engine shows a fixed, all-in fare before you confirm: chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, airport fees and gratuity, with HST shown separately. No meter, no surge. Child seats and meet & greet are available at booking.
- Open the booking page or the booking form on any page.
- Enter "Oshawa Executive Airport" and your Toronto or Pearson address.
- Add the operator, tail number or charter reference and the estimated time in the notes.
- Choose the vehicle, and "hourly" if the car should wait.
- Confirm the fare. Dispatch confirms the meeting point before the day.
Cancellation runs from the scheduled pickup: free more than 72 hours before, 10 % at 72 hours or less, 50 % at 48 hours or less, and 100 % at 24 hours or less or on a no-show.
Can the travel desk help with the rest of the trip?
Our travel desk, run with BookingWorldwide.net, books airline flights, hotels and packages, which helps when a charter connects with an airline flight from Pearson, or when a flight student's family needs rooms for graduation week. Our Durham Region hotels page lists the area near the airfield. For aircraft-side procedures in more depth, see the Oshawa Executive Airport private aviation page, and for local trips around Durham, the Whitby and Oshawa black car page.
