Funeral limo cost in Toronto is shaped by five things: how many cars the family needs, which vehicle class, how many hours the day runs (a 3-hour minimum for sedans, SUVs and Sprinters, 4 hours for stretch limousines), how far apart the home, service, cemetery and reception are, and the date and time. The reservation engine shows the fixed, all-in fare before you confirm.
When a family asks about funeral limo cost, they usually want two answers: roughly what it will come to, and whether anything will be added later. We do not publish price lists, because no two funeral days are alike, but we can explain exactly what moves the fare and what it already covers. For how the day itself runs, see our funeral limo in Toronto page. Distances below are typical planning figures from Union Station and from Toronto Pearson (YYZ).
Funeral limo cost: what are the main things that shape it?
| Factor | What it changes | How families keep it simple |
|---|---|---|
| Number of cars | Each vehicle is booked separately | One larger vehicle can replace two smaller ones |
| Vehicle class | Sedan, SUV, Sprinter or partner stretch | Match the class to the number of mourners |
| Hours | 3-hour minimum, or 4 for stretch limousines | Book the whole day once, not in pieces |
| Distance | Kilometres between home, service, cemetery and reception | Ask the funeral director for the full route |
| Extra stops | Each additional home pickup adds time | Group relatives who live near each other |
| Date and time | Weekend mornings are the busiest | Book as soon as the time is fixed |
| Airport runs | Separate trips for relatives flying in | Book them on the same account |
None of these is a surcharge; they are simply the pieces the fare is built from.
What is already included in the fare?
The fixed fare shown in our reservation engine covers the chauffeur, the vehicle, fuel, 407 ETR tolls on the planned route and the gratuity, with HST shown separately. Waiting inside the hours you booked is part of the booking: the chauffeur waits through the service, the committal and the reception without anything being added. There is no meter and no surge on a busy Saturday.
What is not included are things we do not provide. The hearse, the care of the deceased, the funeral home's services and any cemetery fees are separate matters between the family and the funeral home or cemetery.
How many cars does a funeral usually need?
It depends on who rides together, which is a family decision. Many families book one car for the closest mourners, the spouse or partner and children, directly behind the hearse, and a second, larger vehicle for grandchildren, siblings and in-laws. Our guide to who rides in the funeral limo talks through the usual arrangements.
Fewer, larger vehicles are usually the simplest. A 12-seat Sprinter can carry an extended family that would otherwise need three sedans, and it keeps everyone together, which many families value on the day.
Which vehicle class should we choose?
- Business sedan or first-class sedan: two passengers; the first-class sedan is quieter and roomier for an elderly spouse.
- SUV or premier luxury SUV: up to six, higher seats that are easier for older passengers, and room for a folded walker.
- Sprinter luxury van: up to twelve, for the extended family.
- Stretch limousine: the traditional family car, supplied by a vetted partner operator, with a 4-hour minimum.
The class is the biggest single choice in the fare after the number of hours.
How many hours does a funeral day take?
Most funeral days run three to five hours from the first pickup to the last drop-off: collection at home, the service, the procession, the committal and the drive to the reception, then home. Sedans, SUVs and Sprinters carry a 3-hour minimum, stretch limousines 4 hours, and extra time is added in 30-minute blocks.
Ask the funeral director for the expected length of each part. A one-hour service with the cemetery 10 minutes away is a short day; a long service, a cemetery in another municipality and a reception across the city is a long one. Booking a little more time than you expect is kinder than watching the clock.
How does distance between the service and the cemetery affect it?
Directly, through time and kilometres. A service in midtown with burial at a cemetery nearby keeps the day compact. A service downtown with a burial in Vaughan, about 35 km and 30 to 45 minutes away, or in Brampton, about 45 km and 40 to 55 minutes, adds an hour or more once the procession pace is counted. Processions move more slowly than ordinary traffic, and the return trip to the reception adds the same distance again.
Give us all the addresses when you book, and the reservation engine prices the full route.

Do traffic or weather change the fare on the day?
No. The fare is fixed when you confirm, so a slow Gardiner, a closure on the 401 or a snowfall does not change it. What weather and traffic change is timing, which is why the chauffeur leaves early and checks Ontario 511 for closures before the day. If a long delay pushes the day past the booked hours, extra time is added in 30-minute blocks, and the chauffeur raises it quietly with the family rather than at the end of the day. Our cars run winter tires from November to April.
Can we compare two plans before deciding?
Yes, and it often helps. A family might price one Sprinter for everyone against a first-class sedan for the spouse plus a Sprinter for the rest, or a four-hour day against a five-hour day with a longer reception. Enter each plan in the reservation engine; the fixed fare for each appears before anything is confirmed, so you can choose with the figures in front of you and nothing is booked until you press confirm.
Does booking at short notice cost more?
Short notice does not add a surcharge; it affects availability. Funerals are often arranged within days, and some faith traditions hold burial within a day of death. Weekend mornings and the days around holidays are the busiest times for every vehicle class, especially partner stretch limousines. If the date is still being confirmed, tell us; we would rather plan around a provisional time than have the family worry about it.
Is it cheaper to book the family cars ourselves than through the funeral home?
It can be simpler either way, and the honest answer is to compare. Many funeral homes offer family limousines as part of their arrangements, and some families prefer to keep everything on one invoice. Others book the cars directly, because they want a specific vehicle class, a Sprinter for a large family, airport pickups for relatives on the same booking, or cars for the visitation and the days after. Ask the funeral home what its arrangement includes, then compare it with the fixed fare in our reservation engine for the same vehicles and hours. Funeral homes in Ontario are licensed by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, which publishes consumer information on its site.
What about relatives flying in to Pearson?
These are separate trips and often the first booking a family makes. Pearson is about 27 km and 25 to 45 minutes from downtown. The chauffeur tracks each flight and collects relatives at the pre-arranged pickup area on the arrivals curb. Included waiting is 30 minutes from actual landing on Canadian domestic and US flights and 60 minutes on other international arrivals; meet and greet inside arrivals with a name board is an optional add-on at booking, and kind for an elderly relative travelling alone. If relatives need flights or hotel rooms, our travel desk can help.
What happens if the day runs longer than booked?
Nothing dramatic. If the reception runs on, the chauffeur stays, and extra time is added in 30-minute blocks. The chauffeur will mention quietly when the booked time is nearly up, so the family can decide whether to keep the car longer. We never leave a family at a cemetery or a reception because the hours have run out without speaking to them first.
Are there costs for cancelling or changing the booking?
Changes to times, addresses and the number of cars can be made by contacting dispatch; we confirm the new arrangement. The sitewide cancellation rule applies, measured from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours before, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10 per cent of the fare; 48 hours or less, 50 per cent; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100 per cent. When a date is moved by the funeral home, tell us as soon as you know and we will move the booking where a vehicle is available.
What about visitations, shivas and memorials?
Many families book cars for more than one day: the visitation the evening before, gatherings during a mourning period, a memorial weeks later or the scattering of ashes at a meaningful place. Each is its own booking with its own hours. A short evening visitation fits the 3-hour minimum; a trip to cottage country, about 215 km and 2.25 to 3 hours to Muskoka, is a full day. Booking the same chauffeur for each brings some continuity at a difficult time.
Do you have a wheelchair-accessible car for a funeral?
Yes. We have a wheelchair-accessible vehicle for a mourner who needs to stay in their wheelchair; book it in advance and tell us about the wheelchair or scooter. For passengers who can transfer to a seat, our chauffeurs help them in and fold and stow the chair or walker; SUVs are often easier than low sedans. Accessibility is part of the plan, not an extra.
Is a tip expected on top of the fare?
No. Gratuity is already part of our all-in fare, so nobody needs to think about tipping at the end of a long and emotional day. Some families add something for exceptional care, but it is never expected. Our chauffeur tipping and etiquette guide explains what is included.
How do we see the exact fare?
Open the reservation engine, choose hourly, enter the first pickup address, the date and start time, the number of hours and the vehicle, and add the funeral home, cemetery and reception addresses in the notes. The fixed, all-in fare appears before you confirm. For several vehicles or a complicated day, our dispatch desk can confirm the arrangement in writing and speak with the funeral director directly. The how our fares work page explains every line of a fare.
